There have been several situations in which there have been several TV series sharing the same title, which are unrelated to each other. For example, NBC has aired two TV series named "Chase" - one in 1973-74 and one in 2010-present. Are there any other examples?

There was a 1960's sitcom titled Angel and then later the Buffy spinoff Angel.

And CBS in the 1960's(1961-1965)had the drama "The Defenders",about a father-son lawyer team(the late E.G.Marshall played the father Atty.Lawrence Preston,and the late Robert Reed(Yes,"The Brady Bunch"'s Robert Reed)as his son,Atty.Kenneth Preston,and "The Defenders"series of today,a team of 2 lawyers.

2nd one: The series starred six real life siblings: Jazz, Jocqui, Jake, Jojo, Jurnee, and Jussie Smollett and centered on seven brothers and sisters (all of whom have names that start with "J") in the O'Fallon Park neighborhood of St. Louis who lose their parents and are being raised by the eldest brother, Josh Jerrico.

This ran on ABC from 1994-95.

Another unique thing is that one show was a sitcom and the other was a drama.

Also, during the drama versions first season, Clooney and Wyle appeared in their E.R. roles in an episode of Friends, which also was in its first season. So Clooney played both roles on a sitcom!

On NBC, another show wanted to use the same title, but was forced to call itself NBC's Saturday Night.

The Cosell show was cancelled after one season. During the second season of NBC's show, Lorne Michaels asked ABC's Roone Arledge if they could use the SNL title since they were no longer using it. Roone Arledge allowed it and Saturday Night Live runs on NBC to this day.

The way I see it is that revivals continue with the original cast like the new Mad About You, Fuller House, Murphy Brown, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Reboots don’t feature the original cast and it’s a reintroduction of a similar concept. That would be the new One Day at a Time as well as the new Charmed and Party of Five.

The upcoming series "Partners" was also used previously...Fox aired a sitcom several years ago with Vivica A. Fox and Jon Cryer with that title.

There was a 3rd "Partners" with the short-lived 2014 FX series, starring Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence.

I just found out there were two shows called Emergency. There was of course, the classic 1972-1977 drama Emergency! But there was also a little known reality show called Emergency (no exclamation mark here) that premiered May 6, 2016 on Discovery Life. Their version of Emergency isn't even listed on epguides.com and is way too new for my primetime directory, I discovered this when going through the TV Tango listings.

Not a TV show, but there is a movie currently in theaters called Wild at Heart. I have been enjoying the Wild at Heart TV show from 2006 that UP started airing recently.

There are three different shows called Switch. Game Show Network's newest original is Switch, which premiered this year in 2023. A short lived 6 episode UK drama called Switch aired in 2012. And from 1975-1978 CBS aired a three season drama Switch with an all star cast of Robert Wagner, Eddie Albert, and Sharon Gless.

I just found out there were two shows called Emergency. There was of course, the classic 1972-1977 drama Emergency! But there was also a little known reality show called Emergency (no exclamation mark here) that premiered May 6, 2016 on Discovery Life. Their version of Emergency isn't even listed on epguides.com and is way too new for my primetime directory, I discovered this when going through the TV Tango listings.

Just looked that up, and apparently the Discovery Life series is called Emergency Level 1-- may be incorrect, but that's what I found.

Not only did George Clooney star in the NBC medical drama, he also guest starred in the short-lived 80s sitcom.

House Calls was a medical sitcom starring Wayne Rogers that aired three seasons on CBS from 1979-1982. There is some very long-running syndicated weekend reality show called HouseCalls (only difference in title is no space between words). I found it when checking my MyNetworkTV affiliate's schedule. HouseCalls is in season 26 already. :eek:

When CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was an unexpected hit, it moved to Thursdays. CSI's first Thursday on the fall schedule was 2001. First fall Thursday show to air after CSI was a drama called The Agency. After one season CBS sent The Agency to Saturdays to make room for Without a Trace. The Agency was cancelled after season two.

In 2007 VH1 aired a reality show called The Agency. It only lasted 7 episodes.

Today I saw an ad for a current show called The Agency which will be premiering on Paramount+ soon. It is not listed on epguides.com yet.
