There have been several situations in which there have been several TV series sharing the same title, which are unrelated to each other. For example, NBC has aired two TV series named "Chase" - one in 1973-74 and one in 2010-present. Are there any other examples?

(Revivals of TV series, especially under the same name, don't count in this thread.)

Why the Mr. and Miss? They aren't credited as such. In fact, the only person I can think of credited like that was (Miss) Michael Learned from The Waltons and that was only done so that people wouldn't be confused and think she was a man.

E.R.

The first one was a 1980s half hour sitcom set in a hospital emergency room starring Elliott Gould and some guy named George Clooney as doctors. It was cancelled after one season.

The second was a hugely successful 90s one hour drama set in a fictional Chicago hospital in which George Clooney was also one of the cast members and he again played a doctor. This is the role that finally made him a huge breakout "star".

Now that I think about it George Clooney's the only actor I can think of that starred in two different TV shows with the same title. Does anybody know if there's anybody else that's done that? I can't think of anyone.

Another unique thing is that one show was a sitcom and the other was a drama.

Also, during the drama versions first season, Clooney and Wyle appeared in their E.R. roles in an episode of Friends, which also was in its first season. So Clooney played both roles on a sitcom!

I glanced through it but didn't see the Practice. There was a short lived show in the 60's (I think) and the later hit one.

Also, what I find interesting is the majority of the shows are short lived or one is short lived and one isn't. The Goldbergs is unique because it's one of the few instances where a long running hit show applies to both shows.

Somebody might have posted this already (this is a long-running thread), but fall 1975 saw the debut on ABC of Saturday Night Live With Howard Cosell, a prime time variety show.

On NBC, another show wanted to use the same title, but was forced to call itself NBC's Saturday Night.

The Cosell show was cancelled after one season. During the second season of NBC's show, Lorne Michaels asked ABC's Roone Arledge if they could use the SNL title since they were no longer using it. Roone Arledge allowed it and Saturday Night Live runs on NBC to this day.

Either way it doesn’t count for this thread.

The way I see it is that revivals continue with the original cast like the new Mad About You, Fuller House, Murphy Brown, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Reboots don’t feature the original cast and it’s a reintroduction of a similar concept. That would be the new One Day at a Time as well as the new Charmed and Party of Five.

There was a show called “The Office” starring Valarie Harper which was in 1995.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Office_(1995_TV_series)

That Office also featured a pre-That '70s Show Debra Jo Rupp and Kevin Conroy in literally his first project after his run on Batman: The Animated Series. It turns out this ran for five episodes from March to April 1995 on Saturday nights at 9 p.m., and up until now, the only thing that has remained of this show online was the intro and a commercial for it.
