In her role as Irene Lorenzo on All In The Family,she was married to Frank Lorenzo who was Italian.
Ironically when she joined the cast of Laverne & Shirley as Edna Babish,she eventually married Frank Dofazio who was also Italian.
(Not to mention both of her TV husbands were named Frank.)

It makes me wonder.Was this just nothing more than a coincidence?Or did the writers do that on purpose?

Honestly, I think it was just a coincidence. She was never a big enough player on either show that I could say she was typecast. IMO
