Being a high-profile Glee fan has its perks. The Fox phenom is in talks with CBS Evening News anchor (and self-proclaimed Gleek) Katie Couric to make a cameo in the show's post-Super Bowl episode on Feb. 6. A show rep declined to comment, but an insider tells me that Couric would play herself in a scene with Emmy winner Jane Lynch. A portion of the episode revolves around Lynch's Sue attending the regional cheerleading championships with her Cheerios squad.

Ironically, the news comes just weeks after Couric -- who talks of watching the show with her 14-year-old daughter -- publicly blasted Glee stars Lea Michele and Dianna Agron for participating in the now-infamous GQ photo shoot. "These very adult photos of young women who perform in a family show just seem so un-Glee-like," she said on the Evening News. "The program is already edgy in the right ways, these images don't really -- in my humble opinion -- fit the Glee gestalt."

Katie Couric to Appear on "Glee"
Dec 2, 2010
by Joyce Eng

This just in: Katie Couric will guest-star on "Glee", her rep tells TVGuide.com.

The CBS Evening News anchor will appear in the post-Super Bowl episode. Couric will play herself opposite Sue (Jane Lynch), according to Deadline, which first reported the news.

Fox had no further details.

A self-described Gleek, Couric recently expressed disappointment in "Glee" stars Lea Michele, Dianna Agron and Cory Monteith's racy GQ photoshoot. The spread didn't "fit the Glee gestalt," she said on the Evening News.

Couric's episode will air Feb. 6.

If she's disappointed in the "GQ" photoshoot, then why, oh WHY, is she going to guest star on the show? That's on the same level as saying one thing and doing the exact opposite! She sets a poor example! CBS should fire her immediately! (Notice I'm not bashing her this time for not being like Dr. Laura!)

^ She never said she stopped being a fan.

Just because one particular thing disappoints you doesn't necessarily mean that you'll stop supporting it.
