Just the "Facts": Mindy Cohn returns!

Brenda Hampton is reviving the career of another ’80s icon.

The writer-producer — who made Molly Ringwald relevant again in "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" — has tapped "The Facts of Life’s" Mindy Cohn (go, Natalie!) to join the cast of her currently untitled ABC Family drama as a regular.

Cohn will play Cecilia, the overprotective mother of underachieving funny girl Dylan (Ana Lucasey).




The hour-long project revolves around four ethnically diverse teenage girls (Lucasey, Katelyn Tarver, Valerie Tian, and Christian Serratos) who attend private school in California.

Brad Rowe also stars.

sounds like 'Facts'. lol. Nancy in 'Sonny'; Kim doing things here and there; Mindy doing this pilot. Now, it's Lisa's turn to step out of hiding.

I've watched a few episodes of 'Sonny' but have never actually seen Nancy get any airtime. Does she???

My kids watch it all the time and Nancy does appear in 3 or 4 episodes. If she is in an episode, she does get quite a bit of airtime, she's just not in most of the episodes.

She is also making news with the revelation that she's close friends with Angelina Jolie and Brat Pitt, and god mother to their twins...

I don't think ABC Family picked up the pilot.

Sad because even though Brenda Hampton's shows have strange plots/dialogue, I have a history for liking them regardless. Sounds like it could have been a modern day Facts Of Life.

When she was there, she usually got a lot of airtime. Unfortunately she only did about 5 episodes. Go to youtube and try typing in "Sonny with a Chance-Sketchy Beginnings", "Cheater Girls", "Falling for the Falls Part 1 and 2", and "Hart to Hart". Nancy will have a big part in all of them.

Aside: I actually watched Sonny with a Chance before I knew any thing about FOL or Nancy McKeon (and I didn't see her character as anything other than it was supposed to be--a funny, goofy, supportive mother--which just emphasizes how brilliant an actress she is). It was a better show than most Disney stuff, though I'm too old to watch it at all. Pity it was cancelled.

Yeah they moved the cast over to Secret Life from the pilot Mindy was in because ABC Family didn't pick it up because they were afraid that it would get the response Skins US got for being too controversial because the show was about weed.

So they're like combining the shows instead. That's cool.

Pretty much. I have a feeling they are introducing Dylan and her friends as a new generation because the actors contracts are ending soon. I think it's pretty safe to say the actress who plays Amy will want off to pursue a movie career, and not sure about the others but as often as we see the parents on this show I think Mindy will be around quite a bit.

I wondered if Mindy and Molly ever appeared together on the Secret Life of an American Teenager?
