I don't know, but I'm getting the impression a lot of you are pretty
familiar with the FOL more through N@N and TV Land. Anyone out there remember when it was on NBC on Wednesdays and Saturday nights? (Nod your heads yes)
Well, as a matter of "Facts", I ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE IT TAPED SEVERAL TIMES!! This was back in final season in 1987, when I
visited L.A. for the first time. I saw:
The episode where Natalie goes undercover
to write about ROTC and has to parachute
of a plane (this was just afternoon rehearsal);
Where Rick announces he will die before his
30th birthday (actual taping);
Where Natalie's and Tootie's boyfriends
fight--and Blair convinces Jo to sue a mechanic
(actual taping);
Where Jo's dad on his birthday criticizes Rick
for being irresponsible (actual taping).
Those were so COOL!!!!

I was born in 1986, but if I would have been born earlier I would have gone to an actual taping. I'm not that far from LA, by plane I would get there in an hour. I didn't start watching FOL on N@N I started watching it on USA Network, my mom had a few tapes of FOL on NBC too. I would have killed to go to an actual taping :(

OMG, I'd LOVE to have been there, but considering I was 3 when it went off the air I dont think they'da let me in. lol.
Besides, I don't really like the last 2 seasons either. I saw "It's A Wonderful Christmas" the other day and concluded that Bev cannot carry a whole episode. It wouldn't be any fun w/out Charlotte. lol.

I was really young when I saw the actual tapings. I used to watch it and Different Strokes when they aired weekday mornings on NBC. I used to watch it with my older sister on WEd nights from 1984-1985 and have some promos for what would happen in the next episode along with original shows. I remember in September 1985 when the show changed it'[s look. My sister saw Tootie in those pigtails in the opening sequence and wanted to go make her hair look like Tootie's. LOL. On Saturday Night back then when El D'Barge was on, my sister got all excited. "My Baby on TV". I was a kid but I did not like the lady who was the lead singer in the group commotion because she was "mean to Natalie and Tootie and because she was asking for the cigarette machine". LOL. I watched up till the show got canceled.

In 1986 the show finally went into 5 day a week syndication. When I was in NYC I found out it started airing 5 days a week with the promos and all and after I came back down to Florida I would watch it "weeknites at 6pm on WFTS channel 28" and weekdays at 5pm C/T on WGN channel 9. In 1993 USA picked up the show then stopped airing it at one time, then in 1997, it was picked back up again until 1998.

To LW4Ever,
Going nuts at the sight of Lisa--THAT'S IN FACT WHAT I DID!! Amazing, I remember the day, July 21, 1987, they announced all the people on the show, and when Lisa came out, I just went
BALLISTIC!!!! It seemed they did that dress rehearsal for hours...
(Before the Fall episode where Nat goes undercover in ROTC)
And it was the KEWLEST thing to have Lisa just sitting just a few feet ahead of me!!!! (More later)

Ditto to that. I can remember watching all of those and more growing up. I never had a chance to see any episodes taped because I was never at the west coast until I was in high school. However, I never missed an episode when it was on tv originally.

I didn't see an episode, but I did see Kim Fields in person two years ago. I was staying at the Beverly Hills Hilton and it was the night of the Grammys, and Santana was throwing this big after party at the hotel. Anyways, I was in the lobby with a couple of my friends trying to catch a glimps of some of the celeberties that were walking by into the party. and all of a sudden I hear some guy being like "Hey isnt that Kim Fields?" And I turned around and she was right there in front of me. It was pretty awesome. Thats my story! :)

At the "Before the fall" episode, I remember Lisa and John Astin (Mackenzie Astin's dad--duh!! "Gomez Addams) were just sitting a few feet away from me.
I remember at the "Natalie's and Tootie's BFs fighting" episode, the guy who played Snake (also was on Fast Times at Ridgemont High) was saying his lines on the couch, then messed up and said a CUSS WORD out of frustration!! The director announced that "none of us actually heard that naughty word"!! Also, what was classic was when Blair pretended to play the "slimeball mechanic" in the kitchen with Jo and Beverly Ann, and to convey the slimeball effect, they had her take a swallow of Coke--and she
BURPED!! This belch was supposed to go into the episode, but I guess they cut it out. Nancy did make the comment on the set that Lisa should've "ate some beans" instead of Coke!! That was
one of the funniest tapings!!
At the tape with Rick announcing he was going to die at 30, the girls sat around discussing what they would do if they had only
one day to live. Jo told Blair, "I know what you would do--you'd
liquefy your assets into cash and roll around naked in it." And Blair replied, "No, I wouldn't! I do that now.":lol:
I don't remember which episode it was, but Andy and Pippa were
putting frosting on a cake. When the scene ended, the stage crew just threw the cake in the garbage. I thought, what a waste, I would've put that cake to good use!!:liplick:
I think at one taping, during a scene break, some guy announced to Lisa that "he wanted to take her home..." She just smiled, but I felt like, hey you don't say that to Lisa! (Taking it a little too seriously...)
But most of all, I remember that I spent HOURS just laughing and having the most fun well into the night, basking in the glow of Lisa...:blush:

Tad Warner, you are way too lucky!!! I remember the show when it was on NBC, but I was just a poor, young kid (OK, I'm exaggerating a bit ;) ) living in Florida at the time, and didn't have the opportunity to come to California to see it taped. Now that I'm older AND living in California, I can do whatever I want- but dang it, it's way too late.

Um... pardon my 2 cents here but that is NOT something you say to Lisa. God with being the strong Christian she is...? Heh. I mean she wanted to stay out of the Natalie/Snake/Sex episode.. some guy saying that to her now?? Ha. If I was there I'd go and bitch slap the guy faster then you could say "Blair". *crosses arms*

To LW4Ever,
You're right, that's NOT something you say to Lisa, I felt like I wanted to clobber this slimeball buffoon. But I think she smiled to be civil, I wondered if she had gotten comments like that before. I'm sure she'd been instructed to play along with it, take it in stride and just ignore it. I remember Lisa saying on one show that when they had some parade, she was on a float and some guy said, "Hey Blair, you're getting fat!" ANOTHER thing you DON'T say to a girl, especially Lisa!! Funny, I never really considered she was overweight until SHE said she was!! I thought, really?? I suppose the guy who said that shouldn't have expected to win HER over!!:mad: I really did think the guy who made the comment at the taping had NO REGARD for her Christian
principles!!

To NMK/LW,
I've just turned 39, and I was almost 25 when I saw the show being taped. I don't FEEL that old! Okay, what more can I say.
Okay, I have a little trip through the time machine that I have not
told anybody for YEARS!!!! And of course you're ALL going to FREAK over it!!!! Should I tell you?? Mmm...naah. What do you think? YOU GUYS READY FOR IT?? You want to hear it?? I don't know. It'll just have to be my little secret.
