View Full Version : Which TV series of the past
Rezny@gmail.com 11-22-2010, 12:12 AM 1)Should be and 2)Which shouldn't be rebooted? My choices of those that should are both game shows:"Press Your Luck" and the "Pyramid"franchise of game shows. As for those that shouldn't be are "Perry Mason",(to some TV viewers(like me)there was only ONE TV Perry Mason, and that was the late Raymond Burr-why ruin all the good memories of this classic courtrooom show with an inferior reboot?),"Ironside"(Once again,to most TV viewers, there was only ONE chief Ironside and that was the late Raymond Burr),or "The Rockford Files"(To lots of people,James Garner will ALWAYS be remembered as Jim Rockford). And besides that,if they did the reboots ,they would probably not be stylish, like the originals, but crappy anyway IF they were to happen. What are your choices for questions #1 and #2?
megamanj2004 11-25-2010, 12:12 AM As for series that should not rebooted:
Mannix - Nobody played Joe Mannix with so much grit and toughness the way Mike Connors did. And too this show's violence with its number of deaths back then would look tame incomparison to today's overblown and overhyped violence.
treky 11-25-2010, 02:00 AM they DID do a "reboot" of "PERRY MASON" back in the 70s-I never saw it, but I've read that it was AWFUL!!!
It was called "THE NEW PERRY MASON" and only lasted a couple months. I remember reading somewhere after it ended; an interview with Monte Markham who starred and, when asked about it, he laughed and said "The best thing about that was; it helped put food on my table for a couple months".
treky 11-25-2010, 02:09 AM I don't think they should even THINK about doing reboots of "MASH", "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES" (look at that godawful movie), "MAVERICK", "GREEN ACRES", and "THE ROCKFORD FILES" and many others....ok, 2 more "BONANZA", and "GUNSMOKE". (but we'd better be quiet-we might be giving them ideas)
I wouldn't mind a reboot of "QUANTUM LEAP" though.
LUNCH 11-26-2010, 02:41 PM Since they no longer are capable of making anything that even comes close to good television shows,no shows should be re-made.They should just show the original classics on a variety of different tv stations.

MickeyMac 11-26-2010, 06:03 PM None should be rebooted, just show the originals. You wont top them.
Rezny@gmail.com 11-26-2010, 10:22 PM And another show they should not reboot,is "Bewitched"-because nobody could come close to the magnificent job the late Elizabeth Montgomery and the late Dick York(and later on,the late Dick Sargent)did as Samantha and Darrin.Note to Networks:Why reboot classics?

They tried to make that Bewitched movie in 2005 and it wasn't that funny.
Though I got a kick out of that Family Guy scene where Stewie followed Will Ferrell to his house and knocked him cold before telling him that the Bewitched movie sucked and he wasn't funny.
Others that should not be remade:
Miami Vice- wasn't a big fan of the original show but that movie did little to capture my interest. There's a reason why this show only worked in the 1980s.
The Honeymooners - Nobody can play Ralph Kramden the way Jackie Gleason did. The movie they made w/ Cedric the Entertainer was really awful.
Possible remake:
Get Smart - as long as no one casts Andy Dick in a new remake.
waichingliu81 12-08-2010, 08:35 PM i was thinking about fame but then there was that horrendous remake of the movie last year. if there is going to be a show released based from that movie, it'll have debbie allen in it.
debbie will be great in the show, but i don't know if it'll work. it could come off looking like glee or worse than that.
