Comedian Kristen Schaal tweeted a couple of videos on Saturday morning highlighting some cringe-worthy product placement from Days of Our Lives.

The Twitter tag #soapoperaproductplacement is now blowing up. Favorite entries include "Bad news, Hope is in a coma. Now she'll never get to experience the delicious flavor of Pepperoni Bagel Bites," and "She's been sleeping with your brother on your Tempur-pedic sleep number bed."

Boy I can't wait to be a screenwriter so I can come up with outside-the-box, value-added solutions to consumer awareness challenges.

I guess this is what it takes to keep a soap opera on the air these days. It's a shame that what was once a legitimate TV genre has been reduced to this. :rolleyes:

Well, to play devil's advocate for a minute, in the early days of the TV soap genre, the sponsor's products were seen quite often onscreen. That was then, this is now. It just seems crass and greedy these days. I miss the generic TV food just labeled "Chips", "Cola", etc. :lol:
