I could have sworn that the theme song for the first couple of seasons was just a little bit different than it was during the later seasons. Not much different, the lyrics were the same of course. So now that we're back to the 1st season on N@N, why does the theme song sound more like the later version?

Yep, lil different melody and different singers. I guess that was just the first few eps. cuz last night they went back to the theme from the later years, by Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams (who did "Let's Hear it For the Boy" from Footloose as well).

That first theme was much softer, so I preferred the one in later years, plus the blending of the voices was much better.

Yea, I knew that Deniece Williams was one of the singers....."Let's hear it for the boy" was one of my favorite songs from the 80's- I used to have a record of that song.

In the original NBC run, Dennis Tufano and Mindy Sterling sang the theme for the first part of season 1. Then, in the middle of the season, the original theme was replaced with the one sung by Mathis and Williams. This version was used for the remainder of the series.
