The debut of "Sarah Palin's Alaska" brought in huge numbers for TLC, making it the highest-rated series launch in the network's history.


The first episode in the eight-part series was seen by 5 million viewers.

According to Variety, the series brought in 1.6 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic, but mostly skewed older. Viewers over 35 -- 3.9 million of them -- accounted for the majority of the audience.

Following a record-breaking premiere, TLC's "Sarah Palin's Alaska" suffered a serious ratings drop for its second episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter.



The docu-series, which follows the former governor and her family, fell 40 percent to 3 million viewers on Sunday, with only 85,000 in the adults 18-49 demographic.

The median age of the show is 57 — 15 years older than the network's average.



The show opened to nearly 5 million viewers last week, becoming the best launch in TLC history.

She needs to quit this show ASAP. Too much exposure is going to destroy her political career.

If the ratings for her show continue to drop,she-and TLC-will probably ask:Where Is Everybody?

I think the show is only slated for eight episodes anyway, so it's not like even if it bombs it's going to be out there slowly bleeding her popularity. Two months and out; if it's a hit, so be it and if not, well, no big loss.

She can't exactly quit since the footage was taped and edited ahead of time. The best thing to do is let the eps finish running on TLC at this point.

Good let those ratings keep dropping. One less reality show on the air.

I agree with you. During Palin's book tour, there were pictures of her walking around with her youngest son in the middle of the night signing autographs and her allowing people to take pictures of him with no pants on.

Palin is an idiot who probably doesn't think that her show is explotive. As a politician she dodges a lot of key questions regarding illegal immigration etc. She is a quitter a too.
