In 1983, Holliday joined the cast of the CBS-TV sitcom Private Benjamin as a temporary replacement for series regular Eileen Brennan, who was recovering from a serious car injury. However, the show was suffering low ratings before Holliday arrived and was shortly canceled. As a result, only one of the two episodes she filmed was aired.

Yea I remember that. Private Benjamin was one of my favorite shows. It was syndicated quite alot in the 1980's. I wish it was seen again.

And the two episodes she did were done on videotape!

No, only the final episode produced, broadcast out of sequence, was videotaped. The unaired episode that actually introduced Polly Holliday's Major Allen character (and explained the absence of Captain Lewis) was filmed. I know this because it was included in the syndication package.
