View Full Version : Bonnie Franklin to Reunite With Valerie Bertinelli on 'Hot in Cleveland'
Brian Damage 11-10-2010, 05:47 PM EW has learned that Bonnie Franklin—who starred the divorced mother Ann Romano to Valerie Bertinelli’s Barbara on CBS’ One Day at a Time—will guest star on Bertinelli’s current sitcom, TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland, this coming season, which launches Jan. 19. This is the first time that Franklin and Bertinelli will have appeared in a scripted series together in 26 years. One Day at a Time launched in December 1975, and went off the air in May 1984. The cast of One Day at a Time did reunite for interviews on CBS’ newsmagazine 60 Minutes in 2005. The casting of Franklin follows a trend on Hot in Cleveland, which will also be reuniting Mary Tyler Moore and Betty White this season, based on their time working together on The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the ’70s.

80sTrivia 11-10-2010, 06:04 PM Wow... great news. I haven't seen Bonnie Franklin in forever!
catlover79 11-10-2010, 07:19 PM YAY!!! I figured it would be a matter of time before Bonnie guested on her former TV daughter's show. Could Mac, Pat Harrington and Nanette Fabray be far behind? ;)

I hope not! I'd love to see all them on the show!
catlover79 11-10-2010, 08:17 PM It would also be great to see Howard Hesseman, Boyd Gaines, Richard Masur, Shelley Fabares, Michael Lembeck, etc....

You mean Glenn Scarpelli?
mstewart 11-12-2010, 02:08 PM I am looking forward to seeing Bonnie in a guest shot. Too bad after One Day At A Time she never got another series again. I had a crush on her during ODAAT.

Yeah him, he played Alex. He was annoying. Atleast his character was dropped before the end of the series.

I wonder if Nanette Fabray is still acting. How old is she? She would make a good guest star!

Nanette Fabray is 90. Her last acting role was a guest shot on "Coach" in 1994.

Yup, she played Christine Armstrong's mother. Of course, in real life they are aunt and niece. Also, of course, both Nanette and Shelley were on ODAAT at the same time!! :D
OOliver 11-30-2010, 03:51 PM What has BF done in the past 26 years? She hasn't done any television, any movies, and Broadway productions (from what I recall), did she drop out of the business all together?
catlover79 11-30-2010, 05:11 PM Ms. Franklin did participate in the ODAAT retrospective with the rest of the cast regulars in 2005, and the Today Show reunion in 2008. From what I've read, she mainly acts in regional theater these days, and made a DVD about how to tap dance, of all things. Her husband of 29 years, producer Marvin Minoff, passed on last year.
Does anyone have an airdate for the episode yet?
