1. Cast. Mainly, they need someone (like Ashley Tisdale) who can stand up to London's barbs.
2. Premise. The premise of a lounge singer, who happens to have mischevous twins, getting work at an upscale hotel, and being offered living quarters as part of her salary, is believable. The premise of that lounge singer deciding to send two trouble-prone boys to finish high school on a cruise ship, is not believable.
3. Keep the talented cast in each episode. For example, Phill Lewis was in all 87 eps. of Z&C. He has missed many eps. of SLOD.
All that being said, yes, I know, SLOD has a huge audience, by Disney standards.
