It's the end of the road for J.J. Abrams' spy drama Undercovers as NBC today decided not to pick up additional episodes from the freshman series beyond the original 13-episode order. The Warner Bros TV-produced show is now filming Episode 12. The news comes on the heels of Undercovers hitting another series low last night when it slipped to a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demo. The slickly produced light drama, whose pilot was directed by Abrams, broke primetime ground by featuring two black actors as the leads. But it got off to a disappointing start in the Wednesday 8 PM slot and never found traction with viewers. The series will stay on for the next 2 weeks and will air its last original (for now) on December 1. It was already set for preemption on Nov. 24 when NBC is airing a DreamWorks Animation holiday special. The fate of the remaning original Undercovers episodes is unclear. This is the second new NBC series to get cancelled, along with legal drama Outlaw. The rest of NBC's freshman class all received back-nine orders two weeks ago. At the time, Undercovers got a pickup for four additional scripts.

...most viewers saw it once (or "less than once"), shrugged, and watched something else. This is VERY bad for a new series...especially when it's not "in-house", like most of NBC's other shows are these days [they're protecting their own interests, not the "outside" studios they have to do business with]. My guess is the network will "burn off" what's left of "UNDERCOVERS" on Saturdays, as they're doing with what's left of "OUTLAW" right now.

What NBC needs is a new Brandon Tartikoff.

What he did was when a show wasn't doing too good...he would give it a 2nd chance by doing some rearrangements.

But since people only care about ratings...those days are gone....

Just today someone asked me if I watch this show. I'd never heard of it. Now I guess it's too late, lol.

This is the 2nd tv show for Boris Kodjoe that has been cancelled quick. He used to be on a show that came on UPN network with his wife Nicole Ari Parker and i watched a couple of episodes and it was corny. Him and Nicole played on Soul Food tv show that came on Showtime for a long time. The show lasted 4 seasons and it was a good show. The tv show was based on the movie Soul Food.

I'm disappointed that the show got canceled before I got the chance to see it. Just when I'm finally gonna make the time to sit and watch, it gets pulled.
