Hoda Kotb is wrong - Vivian Vance was two years older than Lucille Ball; whereas Hoda says that she was younger than her.
I wish that urban legend would die!

Grrrr! Not only is Hoda WRONG about Vivian being older than Lucy, she's WRONG about Vivian's contract requiring her to be 10 pounds overweight. That was a JOKE in a FAKE CONTRACT that Lucy gave Vivian as a GAG at a surprise birthday party she had for her. They are BOTH urban legends, and these uninformed media people keep perpetuating these myths. Why does nobody on these shows do any fact checking???

the chick who said that ILL ran for 6 years was wrong. It ran for 9 years. the Lucy-Desi comedy hour is included in I Love Lucy. and her hair isnt even red. What's up with that?

People obviously just believe all of the urban legends that are told to them.
Oh, yes, I forgot about the contract - Vivian Vance was NOT required to gain weight, but she did (willingly - out of her control) and just never lost it.

Well, I wouldn't say she never lost it. Her weight fluctuated. By the eighth season, she was looking pretty slim. Nevertheless, the weight jokes persisted and sometimes seemed out of place. I'm thinking in particular of the scene at the beginning of Lucy Makes Room for Danny. Lucy and Ricky are struggling to close a suitcase. In walks a very svelte Ethel, who at that time was even looking trimmer than Lucy. Ricky and Lucy ask her to help them with the suitcase. So Ethel sits on the suitcase and it immediately closes. The audience laughs as usual, I suppose out of habit. But for someone who had never seen this show before, and had only seen this slim version of Vivian Vance, that joke would make absolutely no sense.
By the time The Lucy Show began a few years later, Vivian had gained back a few pounds, and would remain slightly heavy for the rest of her life. Still, there were trim periods, such as her final appearance on Here's Lucy in 1972. At that point in time, I think she looked younger than Lucille Ball. And speaking of looking young, check her out in this interview from 1970 when she was 60 or 61 years old: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpcI7CQXCcY

In spite of all the wrong info on Lucy and Viv, I really enjoyed seeing them brought back to life via Kathie Lee and Hoda! What a nice surprise to see that in this day of Snookie and Lady Gaga costumes, this Halloween we see two true tv stars!
