Just starting (finally!) the S4 set and I'm watching "Angels In The Snow," when something odd occurred. Go up to 14:30 into the episode, is it me or is there something weird about how Mary says "I'll invite Rhoda to the party"? It's almost like a Mary impersonator or Mary post-production dubbed in the line, and somehow, the video doesn't seem to be matching up to what's being said, like it is a dub.

Anyone know if there's some kind of story behind that?

LOL, you're right.

It's almost like it's pre-recorded or something. But it IS def. Mary's voice. Usually dubbing is when it's someone else doing the vocal work, at least things that I have seen. Particularly, one movie I have where they re-added scenes that had been taken out before it had premiered.

And looks like the voice being faster than her lips for a couple of words, haha.

I screened this ep last night to see what you were talking about, and sure enough, there's a teeny tiny glitch right where you said! It wasn't as jarring as I expected it to be, but it WAS there! In fact, I was so getting into the episode, I almost missed it!

It's definitely Mary's voice, and at first I thought the sound recording equipment had just cut out for a few seconds, but when you play it back, in addition to being that little bit lower, to me it seems like Mary's voiceover is saying something to the effect of "Listen, why don't I invite Rhoda to the party", when she's mouthing only "Why don't I invite Rhoda to the party"!

It's only off by that little bit. Hey, it's such a fantastic show, and so well-produced, that even a small thing like that stands out because the rest of it is so great! It was kind of fun/funny, though!

There is also one of these *I think* during the first season episode, Support Your Local Mother. It's at the beginning when Rhoda calls Mary to ask her if her mother is there and they begin there "code talk".

The part where Rhoda tells Mary to make an excuse and to come upstairs real quick.
