"Exporting Raymond," a documentary film about trying to export the hit television show "Everybody Loves Raymond" to Russia, has been acquired for distribution by Samuel Goldwyn Films and will open in major cities in 2011, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
The project, starring and directed by the show's creator, producer and writer Phil Rosenthal, is said to be an unusually funny documentary, the article notes. The movie tracks Rosenthal as he travels to Russia to attend meetings about creating a Russian version of "Raymond," the story says.
"Part travelogue, part fish-out-of-water story, part behind-the-scenes look at the sausage-making process otherwise known as TV production, 'Exporting Raymond' examines all these themes with notes of frustration and humor," wrote the Austin Chronicle, according to the piece.
