Peacock Productions executive Sharon Scott talks in an NBC Universal video about the company's plans for the Weather Channel, which include a 13-part series about a "crazy" landscape photographer, reports the Hollywood Reporter's The Live Feed blog.

"And I say 'crazy' in a really, really wonderful way," Scott says. The Weather Channel will reduce the amount of live weather on the network, as Scott points out that viewers use iPads and other devices to check the weather. Instead, weather will be placed on a scroll during weather-related reality programming, the story says.

Just what we needed a network devoting it's schedule to "reality" programming! Wait a minute. Don't we already have 200 channels just like that? :(

...NBC/Universal had bought, say, "The Spaghetti Channel", and slowly converted it into the "Law & Order Channel".

I'm surprised they DON'T have a L&O channel yet. I mean, they have enough episodes from all the different shows for a 24-hour network!!! CHUNG-CHUNG!!!

I don't have to worry about this because there's a local weather channel on my Comcast digital cable system which does nothing but show the local weather with nonstop background music playing all day, every day.

The Weather Channel has become useless, just like TV Guide Channel. If I need to check the weather, I have an app on my iPod, or I can just check the internet. Weather HD on Time Warner doesn't even have Local on the 8's, so it doesn't matter to me.

We can always go back to the old fashioned way of checking the weather- looking out the window and reading the thermometer.
