Does anyone else feel like there's been a resurgence in classic sitcoms during these last few months? More airings, returning shows, new networks; Whatever the reason may be, I'm enjoying seeing these shows again. I haven't watched actual syndication daily in many years.

Some highlights for me:

The Hub - Batman, Laverne & Shirley, Family Ties, The Wonder Years, Doogie Howser, M.D.

TV Land - All In The Family, Good Times, Three's Company.

Hallmark - I Love Lucy, Who's The Boss?

ABC Family - Boy Meets World

Teen Nick - Growing Pains

I don't see there being any added fees for sitcoms lately. Who are you paying a surcharge to for more sitcoms?

Happy Days isn't a highlight for me. Feel free to post your favorites though!

Happy Days is definitely a highlight for me! I absolutely love that show! Fonzie is totally cool! Aaaayyyy!
And Laverne & Shirley is a great spin-off series too.

But basically all the ones listed already-
The Hub - Batman, Laverne & Shirley, Family Ties, The Wonder Years, Doogie Howser, M.D.

TV Land - All In The Family, Good Times, Three's Company.

Hallmark - I Love Lucy, Who's The Boss?

ABC Family - Boy Meets World

Teen Nick - Growing Pains
It's so great to see these classic shows from the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s back on TV.
Not that it's real news but Saved By the Bell still runs on TBS of course. And I still absolutely love watching that all the time.
I didn't know Growing Pains was back on TV though! Cool!
And I'm so happy with all the shows on The Hub's line-up, especially Family Ties!!! I love that show- I really wish Seasons 6 and 7 would get released on DVD soon.
And hey- Doogie Howser, M.D. - that's cool- love it. And The Wonder Years and the '60s live action Batman series! WOW! Fans should be taping these- who knows when they'll ever make it to DVD with all the legal entanglements they're tied up in. It's great to see them on TV again though.
And of course, I also enjoy seeing The Cosby Show on and Home Improvement, Family Matters and Full House. (I do believe Nick at Nite airs all these- either there or TV Land.) The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is good too.
And can't forget other classics like The Andy Griffith Show and Leave It To Beaver.
It is good to see so many of these classic older sitcoms on TV- I would much rather watch reruns of these than most anything on TV today.

Oh, and Hallmark is airing a marathon of The Addams Family and The Munsters on Halloween also.

2010 has been a good year for classic TV reruns!

The older our generation gets the more classic tv we'll be seeing.

Yeah, I think it's a bit better than it was a year or two ago. These old shows are like comfort food and most of us need comfort right now.

If anyone has a Roku Player, there is a great channel called Pub-D-Hub (http://pubdhub.info/) with lots of old TV shows, movies, commercials, radio shows and educational films in the public domain.

Could be.And it might just be that people are sick and tired of today's TV fodder(stuff they air today on network TV isn't all that great)and need an escape. And I agree with the above poster:old TV shows(for me,especially from the 1960's,no 1970's,no 1980's,no 1990's(except for "Home Improvement"),for me,thank you) are like comfort food.

I agree, except for the mid 1970s part. There were quite a few good shows the were made and ran through and past the mid 1970s, up until the mid 80s or so.

And it could also be,in TVLand's case,(and hopefully WGNAmerica and The Hallmark Channel will follow suit).the saying "Out with the old,in with the new",could be changed to read "Out with the new,in with the old".

They always go back to the classics. That should say something right there.

As much as I'd love to see more classics on WGN, I doubt we'll see much more than we see now...they're trying to be a general entertainment channel, with something for everyone, new and old. I hope Hallmark will cut back on Martha soon...but I'm not holding my breath...

I haven't noticed this resurgence at all. In fact, I would say that, unfortunately, on Canadian TV at least, the trend towards showing classic sitcoms has gone in the opposite direction, so much so that now you have to look very hard before you find something old and worthwhile. As an example, we have a channel called CTS which I've talked about many times before. Its regular lineup features mainly religious programming but for many years they also showed some great sitcoms of both vintage and recent variety. At one point, they could boast of a lineup that included "Happy Days", "Andy Griffith", "My Three Sons", "Family Ties", "Cosby Show", "Brady Bunch", and "Family Affair". Today, you could still find "Happy Days" and the Bradys on CTS but they're now only on once a week. Multiply that over a whole year and that's a little more than 2 seasons' worth out of more than 100 episodes. It's better than nothing but it still leaves you feeling a little shortchanged. Other channels that used to have older series on their schedule have either been re-branded (PRIME became TVTropolis, TV Land Canada is now Comedy Gold) or have simply changed their focus where they are now showing more current shows or in the case of a channel like DejaView, they show a few old shows, repeat them about 3 or 4 times a day, and only offer a couple of seasons worth. This really sucks big time! We Canadians, and even Americans because they gave us these great shows, deserve to have a quality classic TV station like ME-TV and Antenna TV, the way TV Land Canada, PRIME, and CTS used to be, or even to have a few select classics show up on many channels at different times during the day so we can have a little more choice in the matter. What we have now is simply unacceptable to me. I wouldn't call it a resurgence, it's more like a repulsion!

Hallmark looks pretty good with Golden Girls, Who's the Boss?, I Love Lucy, Cheers & Little House on the Prairie. I'll also be checking out the Halloween marathon of the Munsters/Addams Family.
