Has anyone here met, or talked on the phone to, a celebrity crush? Were you
nervous, excited, thrilled (all the above)? I would think that it would be an
awesome experience to just hear the voice of someone you have admired from afar for years (perhaps even decades). This thread is for fans who have
memories they would like to share.

Yes I got to meet and actually party with one of my celebrity crushes. I am an actress in Chicago and quite active in the social scene. I go to a lot of theatre functions and one of the ones I went to was Madhatters Ball. That was where I got to meet my favorite "friend." David Schwimmer, he had appeared in a play and then went to the Underground. He was charming and we had a great conversation that night. Just last week, I got to see him again at the premiere of his movie at the Chicago Film Festival , His film "trust" was amazing.

I got to meet Dean Butler (Almanzo Wilder, Little House on the Prairie), along with many other LH cast members, in 2005 at the Western Film Festival in Tombstone, AZ. I'd had a crush on "Manly" for quite some time, so it was a thrill to meet Mr. Butler. What a sweet guy - no affectations, no snobbiness. He's not Hollywood at all. Besides getting his autograph one of the days there, I happened to bump into Mr. Butler and his wife walking down the street the next morning. I was on my way to grab something for breakfast. Even though I only said "excuse me" and then "good morning" to them, they were both so kind and gracious. It was a great experience. :D

I've also never met a crush, but I've also seen a few celebs. I've seen Gates McFadden, James Doohan, William Shatner & Lenord Nimoy (on stage together), Will Wheaton, Marina Surtis, and Walter Konig (from"STAR TREK") and YEARS ago (in the early 60s) I saw-but didn't meet-Frank Fontaine (for all you youngsters; that was a singer/actor/comedian who played a character named "Crazy" Googenhime on "THE JACKIE GLEASON SHOW" in the early 60s)

Does Facebook count? Because if it does, I'm a member of Khrystyne Haje's Facebook fan club, and I once wrote on her wall, "Khrystyne, I think you are a very pretty and sweet lady." To my surprise, the lovely Khrystyne wrote back to me, "Thank you (blushing)." Seriously, Khrystyne herself will sometimes post on her Facebook fan club page whenever she has time, and just last week, she posted to say "Happy Thanksgiving!" to her Facebook fans. She really is so sweet. :) :happyface

The summer I turned 16, I got to meet and chat with Cheryl Ladd. Now keep in mind that this was 1982. Charlie's Angels had wrapped up the summer before, and Cheryl was one of the queens of TV movies. She was filming Kentucky Woman (about a single mom going to work in the coal mines after her husband died) in a mining community about 90 miles from my home.

I was working for my hometown newspaper doing photography, so I convinced/begged the editor to get me a press pass. I looked a lot older than 15, so the people on the set probably assumed I was in college.

I spent the day on the set, mostly hanging out with Ned Beatty (very cool). My interview time with Cheryl kept getting delayed due to them being behind schedule from the day prior. As the day progressed, I was starting to accept that my interview with my celebrity crush would not happen. It had been a good day. Ned and I hung out, had lunch together, and he shared stories of working with folks like Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason and Richard Pryor.

Shortly before I had to leave, I was sitting in Ned's trailer (very small camper) at the little kitchenette table. All of a sudden, I hear this very familiar voice from outside the trailer!

"Now Ned Beatty, what kind of lies are you making up and telling this reporter?," Cheryl asked as she popped up into the trailer, and plopped down on the tiny bench next to ME!!! "You know, every other word this man says is a down right lie," she said as she slapped my knee and flashed that beautiful Kris Monroe smile.

I must have looked like a frozen statue. It truly felt like all time stopped. I mean Cheryl Ladd was sitting next to me on this tiny bench--our legs were touching for Gosh sakes! And she was talking TO ME like I was a long-time friend.

She asked me about my hometown, and I asked her about how a South Dakota gal managed Hollywood at such a young age. She thought it was cool that I knew she was a singing voice for Josie and the Pussycats--and that I had all of her albums. We chatted for about 15 minutes. They had been calling for her on the set for about 5 minutes, when finally someone popped in and said, "We have been looking all over for you. The scene is set up and ready to shoot."

Cheryl assured the person that we had not heard the calls for her. As she got up, she looked at me and Ned and shrugged her shoulders and winked, flashing that smile again. "It was a pleasure meeting you. I am so sorry that today has been a waste of your time," she said sincerely. She offered that if I was staying overnight, perhaps I could join she and her husband for dinner at the hotel around 9 p.m.

I was crushed to tell her I could not stay. (I did not have a driver's license, so I had taken the Greyhound bus, and my bus ride home departed at 6 p.m.) We chatted for a few minutes more, until someone bellowed her name again over the P.A. She gave me a quick hug and was out the door like a flash.

Ned was done on set, so he and I headed back to the hotel and he hung out in the lobby with me until I had to head to the bus station.

I have met and interviewed dozens of celebrities over the years through work on various newspapers and publications, but I will always cherish that visit with Cheryl Ladd and Ned Beatty.
