I pre-ordered it through Amazon. The Edna's Edibles seasons were my favorite episodes, there is their first Halloween episode, their first Christmas episode, a sequel with Jo's ex-boyfriend, of course who can't forget the first two episodes of the season.

One of the things I am impress after all of these years is how much the story worked and how they kept the "four musketeers" together along with Mrs. Garrett. I am sure after season 4, the writers must have thought do we continue Eastland with new girls or keep Lisa and Nancy and make a story that brings everyone back together. I am glad they did it the Season 5 way.

I am also glad that we are going to be at the half way point of dvd releases for FoL in a matter of days. By this rate all FoL episodes will be release by 2012!

I have been looking forward to this for a long time. I feel like some of them will be new to me because since they arent on tv anymore, I havent seen most of them in years and I'm sure there are some episodes that I haven't ever seen so I'm excited about watching some of them for the first time. I know they are on youtube but since they are releasing the rest of the series now, I want to wait and enjoy them at a better quality on my DVDs. It's going to be awesome to have the entire series. I never thought that would happen. I hope they have a series box set whenever all of them get released. I would totally buy that too.

If my memory is correct, the date that this set is due to be released is the same day that the fifth season of "Mad About You" will hit the stores! As crazy as I am about this show's Mindy Cohn, my first choice for a date will always be Helen Hunt! Being able to buy the fifth season of both series will really be a delight times two! Oh baby!

I am absolutely thrilled about seeing the Edna's Edibles years on dvd. I hope we get to the Over Our Heads years but I am getting ahead of myself.

In about a week, we can all start looking forward to receiving our sets. Strangely, I checked with all of my local stores and no one is carrying it, not even Newbury Comics. And they carry all retro stuff. Anyhow, glad to finally see Edna's Edibles make its way to dvd. :)

I'm really looking forward to season five. The fifth season is one of my favorites, hands down. There was some really strong episodes in season four but I think that the show was beginning to get a little old and I think it was really smart of the producers by having Blair and Jo move on to college in season five and Mrs. Garrett open her store. These changes brough new life to the show. :)

This would happen to me. EVERY time I pre-ordered from Amazon, it arrived late. Now, I pre-ordered from Shout directly and I still didn't get it on the day of release. Hmmmm, I think it's a conspiracy. :(

Where the hell does one order from to get it on the day of release???

Did you guys pay for expedited delivery? Please let me know. This is so disappointing. I have been looking forward to this set. None of the dvds I ordered online this year arrived by the release date. Thanks for any info you can give.

God, I am really hating both Amazon and Shout right now.

I'll try that next time. Someone else did that and posted at the Shout boards that Amazon was unable to fulfill their order in time and they were refunded the shipping charges. So I guess there are no guarantees when ordering from Amazon. You would think that with pre-orders they would be sure to fulfill, at least, those orders by the release date. But does anyone do anything the right way these days? :D

In the Halloween episode, you can see Nancy trying not to laugh when Mrs. Garrett is saying "gooooooooooooood!" to Hansel and Gretel. haha

The Halloween episode is classic. I watched it last night. When Mrs. G goes into the girls' room with the knife and stands over Tootie, it always makes me laugh out loud.

Also watched "Advanced Placement". Jamie Gertz is hysterical in that. She's funny in "Gamma Gamma" too. I love when she says "We all know the food was barf-o-rama." LOL!!

Too bad Cousin Geri isn't featured more. So far, she's turned up in "What Price Glory?" and I know she has an episode towards the end of the season ("All By Herself").

"I'm Dancin' As Fast As I Can" was both funny and a little sad. You can really feel the love between Blair and Cliff and he was such a sweet guy.

Yeah, that was probably me.

And, My set was delivered yesterday by UPS. The shipping charges were refunded since Amazon couldn't make the guaranteed date, so I saved 8 bucks, and the set was only a day late.

Usually, though, Amazon does get the sets to you on release day if you choose the second day shipping option. This is the first time I can recall that they didn't get a package to me on release day when using second day shipping.

But, hey, it all turned out for the best. I saved some money, got the set right when I would have began watching it, and the set looks great.

The odd thing is, though, I just realized... these would have been the first episodes aired after I was born. And you can tell that the videotape is 27 years old.

At least most of these old shows are being converted to digital masters now, because the videotape from the 70s and 80s is slowly but surely degrading.

As for the episodes... I just finished "Dancing As Fast As I Can". Fun episode, but I saw the plot twist coming from a mile away. Okay, so, handsome boyfriend we've never seen before, struggling med student, and the girls are taking Mrs. G to a strip club for her birthday? Well, we all know where this is going.

I had never seen the episode before, or read any spoilers for it, so I thought it was fun that it was so predictable.

I fear for what shows on videotape will really deteriorate and not be converted. I'm sure some of the one-season wonders may not get converted. But I hope I'm wrong.

About "Dancin'", did anyone else find Woody Brown as Cliff as delicious as I did? :happyface

Indeed. So long ago, it wasn't even "hacking" yet.

Also, is it just me, or is nearly every episode a "very special episode"? We've got latchkey kids, interracial relationships and prejudice, politics and compromise, dealing with the death of a loved one... and that's just 4 of the 6 episodes on disc 3. I didn't even mention the illiteracy episode or the "feelings of strippers" episode.

FoL season 5... where they bludgeon you with life lessons.

Actually I find that they were toning down the very special episode count by season 5.

I'm actually on the last episode now...

one thing strange.....Pamela Segall was usually in the opening credits when she was in an episode. She is listed in "The Christmas Show" but isn't in the episode.

also, didn't the guy who plays Jeff play the part of "Zack" back in the Cooper's Rock episode?

I, actually, love the "very special" episodes. I find them to be a breath of fresh air from all of the cruel and attitude-heavy shows that are on tv now. It's like it's not "in" to care about people anymore, regardless of the subject. I found all of these episodes enjoyable. :)
