View Full Version : Favorite Movie of 2001... Jordan 12-22-2001, 02:04 PM Now that 2002 is approaching, it's time to find out about 2001...What was your favorite movie of 2001? Mine was. and don't laugh, "The Princess Diaries." :happyface Kay Scarpetta 12-22-2001, 02:59 PM Legally Blonde, The Others, Harry Potter, Shrek, but my number 1- The Princess Diaries!!!!!!! ISmellFine 12-22-2001, 03:12 PM Legally Blonde and Shrek...but I'm going to see Kate and Leopold when it comes out! Meg07945 12-22-2001, 06:12 PM oooh!! Shrek! Pearl Harbor! angel676 12-22-2001, 06:25 PM Gone In 60 Seconds, starring Nicholas Cage. That is one awesome movie! Mossopp 12-22-2001, 06:41 PM I think my favorite movie of 2001 was 'Ginger Snaps' cos it's one of the most clever and inventive horror movies that's been out in a long time. Personally, I'm getting sick of seeing all these 'Scream/I know What You Did...' rip-offs and 'Ginger Snaps' was totally new and different. My runner-up prize goes to 'Josie & The Pussycats' cos it's really funny without sinking to the kinds of lows that 'American Pie' etc have to go to to get laughs. The cast were all really cool and the music was pretty good too. Kay Scarpetta 12-22-2001, 06:45 PM did "Gingersnaps" show over in the states? I can't remember or not Mossopp 12-22-2001, 06:49 PM Originally posted by Lisa Whelchel Forever did "Gingersnaps" show over in the states? I can't remember or not Yeah it did, but I don't think it was in cinemas for that long. It was only in cinemas for about 4 weeks over here and then it went straight onto DVD. It's a Canadian film so I'm pretty sure it was shown in the States. Your local video store is bound to have it - you should check it out. Maybe I will get it Mossopp 12-22-2001, 08:03 PM Oh, I almost forgot - Another movie I really enjoyed this year was 'Series 7: The Contenders'. I doubt that many of you will have seen it as it wasn't a very high-profile release but it was really good. It's a satire on the current state of the media and the public obsession with 'reality' TV shows. It's both funny and shocking and I totally recommend it. All you 'Real World'/'Big Brother'ect ect fans should watch it. It might shut you up!! ;) 'Requiem for a Dream' was another great movie of 2001. It really affected me. I doubt I'll ever watch it again - some scenes were so real and brutal that it was difficult to watch - but it was a truly amazing film. The best drug movie ever? I'd say it definately gives 'Trainspotting' a run for it's money! And on a related note, the most overrated films of the year are - 'Bridget Jones Diary' - nice to see a British film earning a big audience in the States. Just a shame that it's not really all that good. 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' - sorry, I just didn't see the point. 'Dude, Where's My Car' - ok, I know it wasn't exactly popular but even calling this movie "ok" is grossly overrating it. This is the WORST movie of the year!!! No question!! -*Forever*- 12-22-2001, 08:21 PM OMG I loved Legally Blonde, I loved Princess Diaries, I loved Josie and the Pussycats, I loved a lot of other movies, but I especially loved... SHREK!!!!!!!!!! Donkey: Do you love her? Shrek: Yes. Donkey: Do you want to marry her? Shrek: Yes. Donkey: Then you gotta gotta give a lil' love!!!!! Or something to that extent. :D Kay Scarpetta 12-22-2001, 08:26 PM Originally posted by Mossopp 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' - sorry, I just didn't see the point. ugh I got SO lost watching that movie!! LaverneShirley 12-24-2001, 12:43 PM In no particular order, Harry Potter, The Others, Monsters Inc., Shrek... I did like the Princess Diaries, but I would've liked it more if Mandy Moore wasn't in it. |
