The Addams Family

They're creepy and they're kooky,
Mysterious and spooky,
They're altogether ooky,
The Addams Family.

Their house is a museum.
When people come to see 'em
They really are a screa-um.
The Addams Family.

Neat

Sweet

Petite

So get a witch's shawl on.
A broomstick you can crawl on.
We're gonna pay a call on
The Addams Family.

Or

Green acres is the place to be.
Farm livin' is the life for me.
Land spreadin' out so far and wide.
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.

New York is where I'd rather stay.
I get allergic smelling hay.
I just adore a penthouse view.
Dah-ling I love you but give me Park Avenue.

...The chores.
...The stores.
...Fresh air.
...Times Square

You are my wife.
Good bye, city life.
Green Acres we are there.

...but I also have a fondness for the catchy theme he composed for "THE PRUITTS OF SOUTHAMPTON", Phyllis Diller's short-lived 1966-'67 ABC sitcom (written for Filmways, the production company he also wrote "THE ADDAMS FAMILY" and "GREEN ACRES" for). It was only used during the first half of the season, then replaced by a new "snappier" theme and title {"THE PHYLLIS DILLER SHOW"}.

PHYLLIS: {cackle} Howtcha-do, howtcha-do, howtcha-do, my dear,
What a lovely surprise, nice to see you here!
REG GARDNER: All the bills have been long overdo, my dear...
PHYLLIS: File them under I.O.U!
Howtcha-do, howtcha-do, well, hello, it's you!
Love my dress, love my jewels, aren't they marvie-poo?
PAM FREEMAN: They belong to the Internal Revenue...
PHYLLIS: And they've got us eating stew!
CHORUS: The Pruitts of Southampton,
Live like the richest folk,
But what the folk don't know is that
The Pruitts are flat broke!
PHYLLIS: Howtcha-do, howtcha-do, howtcha-do, my dear!
GARDNER: We are out of champagne, and I'm stuck, my dear!
PHYLLIS: Ask the butler to lend you a buck, my dear,
Howtcha-do, howtcha-do, howtcha-do!

Addams Family theme is perfect for the show.

But Green Acres is catchier and also perfect.

I'd have to say BOTH "The Addams Family" and "Green Acres".But do you remember the CLOSING themes to "The Addams Family" (no words, but with organ, clock ticking back and forth and sound of kettle drum)and "Green Acres"(again,no words, and kazoo)?

One question:On "Return to Green Acres",they had Oliver(the late Eddie Albert)singing the same words he did on the series, but when Lisa (the late Eva Gabor)sang HER part, the words were different.Did the late Vic Mizzy write those words,or did someone else?

I love this theme song too, and thanks to You Tube we can all sing along if we want to. ;)
