VILLAGE HALLOWEEN PARADE
ON OCTOBER 31

PLUS, CHILLER THEATRE RETURNS
HALLOWEEN WEEKEND WITH FOUR CLASSIC FILMS

NEW YORK, October 12, 2010 -- This SHOCKTOBER, PIX11 is the place for Halloween thrills and chills. The mayhem begins on Saturday October 30th with the return of Chiller Theatre at 7pm and continues on Halloween night with the exclusive PIX11 broadcast of the Village Halloween Parade at 7pm.

The Village Halloween Parade, now in its 38th year, is the nation's largest public Halloween celebration and PIX11 is the official broadcast home of the Parade (7-10pm on October 31st) hosted by PIX's Jill Nicolini and Tamsen Fadal.

The only nighttime parade in New York City, the Village Halloween Parade runs along 6th Avenue between Spring Street and 16th Street in Manhattan and features a costumed audience of over 2 million spectators with 60,000 costumed marchers, hundreds Halloween characters, including giant masks and puppets, dozens of marching bands playing music from around the world, stilt walkers, jugglers, break dancers and other street performers. This year’s theme is Memento Mori! ("Remembrance of Death") and will feature the Day of the Dead puppets from the first Village Halloween Parade, a special section of the Parade designed by Guest Haitian artist, Didier Civil and in the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead a cortege drawn by galloping night-Mares, an illuminated Ghost Train, and a dozen brand-new dancing Calaveras skeletons designed by Master Puppeteers Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles that will add new life to the VHP's jubilant underworld.

This year, the Parade’s Artistic and Producing Director, Jeanne Fleming, is celebrating her 30th year directing the Parade, which will be executive produced by Peter Rosegarten of the Conversation Company, Ltd.

As part of PIX11’s SHOCKTOBER spooks, CHILLLLLLER THEATRE will return to the station on Halloween weekend with four frightening films: White Zombie, Bride of the Monster, Dolls and Child’s Play.

Chiller Theatre, which returned to PIX11 in 2008, originally aired on the station from 1961-1978 and again from 1980-1982. PIX11’s Chiller Theatre weekend will feature the original franchise opens: “The Six-Fingered Hand” and the “Monster Montage.”

On Saturday, October 30th PIX11 will air a Bela Lugosi double feature, White Zombie (1932) from 7-8:30 pm and Bride of the Monster (1955) from 8:30-10 pm.

On Halloween, Sunday, October 31st, PIX11 will air Dolls (1987) from 2-4 pm and Child’s Play (1988) from 4-6pm.

Need an update Pav, according to the WPIX website, the movies are now down to just two, one saturday evening @8PM and one on sunday afternoon....it seems they got the rights from NY1 to have extensive coverage of the village parade cancelling White Zombie for saturday night & Child's Play (which should have never been picked as a chiller movie) way too new.....anyway...if you could follow up with an official news blog item, it could help to spread the word.

My electronic guide does show what you described, but here is the WPIX website link that is buried (not a pun...lol) and it does not reflect what they are suppose to be airing, scroll down to the halloween programming schedule on the right.....seems someone at PIX made a goof?

Thanks. Their full schedule page (http://www.wpix.com/about/tvschedule/) lists what is listed in the press release, so it is safe to say that is what will air.
