After getting divorced and relocating to Brooklyn, persistent psychotherapist Paul (Gabriel Byrne) juggles a new roster of clients including a CEO (John Mahoney) in crisis, a woman unwilling to battle her cancer (Alison Pill) and a boy (Aaron Grady Shaw) caught between his divorcing parents.

Once a week Paul heads back home to Maryland, where he visits his kids and struggles through demanding sessions with his own therapist (Dianne Wiest).
