Useless trivia:
*George Carlin didn't participate in any skits, which is now common practice for a host to do on SNL. Instead, he periodically popped up on stage to do excerpts from his stand-up act (e.g. the famous "Baseball vs. Football" routine).
*It was called on screen NBC's Saturday Night at first. This was because at the same time, ABC had its own variety show called Saturday Night Live which was hosted by Howard Cosell.
