View Full Version : Is "Regis & Kelly" Starting to Fade As A Midday Talk Show?
Brian Damage 10-07-2010, 09:38 PM For the first time ever, the third hour of NBC's "The Today Show," which teams Al Roker, Ann Curry and Natalie Morales, has come out ahead of the syndicated talk show "Live With Regis & Kelly" in the Nielsen ratings, according to The New York Post.
"Regis & Kelly" goes head to head with "Today's" third hour in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Francisco and other major markets. “Today” averaged 3.348 million viewers nationally for the hour during the 2009-2010 season to 3.248 million for “Regis & Kelly,” according to Nielsen figures.

TV Knowledge Fan 10-14-2010, 03:21 AM ...these days, Regis and Kelly are about as appealing at breakfast time as leftover coffee and stale toast....and rancid butter.....and sour milk....and moldy pancakes....and soggy cereal...and ingoberry jam {don't ask me what it is- but even if I did know, it's terrible!}.
;)
USATVFAN 10-14-2010, 09:31 AM I think it times to go.
It really creeps me when they start talking about Sex and Nudity.
If it was Mark and Kelly together or Joy or Regis together that would be one thing. But when it Kelly and Regis Regis talking about stuff like that it's a little awkward. at times.
USATVFAN 10-17-2010, 06:58 PM Also The Ratings has been declining.
I thought I would never see the day The View was getting better ratings then Regis and Kelly.
As The View continues to experience some of if it best Ratings it has ever had, Regis and Kelly continues to experience some of it worst Ratings.
The View has been averaging 4.4 Million Viewers, It has overtaken Regis and Kelly as ABC Top Morning Talk Show.
Rezny@gmail.com 10-17-2010, 08:14 PM And another sign that it is fading,is that in the Omaha area and the station there which DID carry "Regis and Kelly",a year or so ago dropped it and now air a local daytime talk show.
biffbronson 10-18-2010, 02:32 PM When I've watched, I thought that Ripa's needling of Regis was getting stale. It's probably time for Regis' retirement anyway -- he's getting up there.
As far as competition from Today, Natalie Morales is all right (though a stiff wind might blow her off her feet -- have something to eat, lady!), but Ann Curry is a bit stiff in approach for me. Roker is competent but hardly exceptional.
Rezny@gmail.com 10-18-2010, 06:17 PM And Regis is hardly ever there.Instead of "Live with Regis and Kelly",it's ,when Regis is gone,it's "Live, with Kelly and Whoever".Oh,by the way, does anyone remember when ,)when Kathie Lee Gifford left (this was before Kelly came aboard, when DID she come aboard,by the way?)and it was just Regis as host?

The show was known as "Live! With Regis" from July 31, 2000 to February 9, 2001. Also, as for the question itself, I was a huge fan of "Live!" from shortly after Regis' 1st version of "Millionaire" premiered in 1999 until around 2006, when I thought the show was getting somewhat stale due to so many excessive guest hosts for Regis, and Kelly's unnecessary needling of Regis over every little thing. Whenever I do watch "Live!" now, it's mainly for the celebrity guests that are on that day (if there's one I like). If there's not a guest I like, I'll likely be doing something else at 9:00 AM.
