View Full Version : Teletoon Retro
After an excruciatingly long time spent trying to finalize their fall schedule, Teletoon Retro, Canada's classic cartoon channel, is now just settling in to the type of lineup they want to deliver. The official schedule looks like this:
Teletoon Retro - Fall 2010 (http://www.falltvpreview.com/images/schedules/retro.pdf)
However, they have already made one slight and significant alteration to the lineup and that is on Friday nights. Teletoon Retro used to show movies at 7 pm on the first Friday of each month. Now it looks like they've changed it to once a week at the same time. The reason is that it ties in nicely to the network's other big fall attraction, Teletoon Retro Rewind. This is a block of episodes from various cartoon series that are spotlighted every Sunday afternoon between 1:00 and 4:00 pm. With the calendar now turning to October, the weekends have naturally taken on a Halloween theme, with a great treat in store for Scooby-Doo fans on the big day itself. Here is what will be on during October.
Friday October 1 --- Movie --- "Casper: A Spirited Beginning"
Sunday October 3 --- Retro Rewind --- Casper The Friendly Ghost
Mon Oct 4 --- Casper makes his debut in his regular time slots at 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Fri Oct 8 --- Movie --- "Beetlejuice"
Sun Oct 10 --- Retro Rewind --- Beetlejuice cartoon series
Fri Oct 15 --- Movie --- Double Feature: 7:00 "Ghostbusters"; 9:00 pm "Ghostbusters 2"
Sun Oct 17 --- Retro Rewind --- Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters
Fri Oct 22 --- Movie --- "Scooby Doo on Zombie Island"
Sun Oct 24 --- Retro Rewind --- "The 13 Ghosts Of Scooby-Doo" (with Vincent Price)
Fri Oct 29 --- Movie --- T.B.A. (likely another Scooby Doo feature)
Sun Oct 31 --- Retro Rewind --- The New Scooby-Doo Movies (1972)
I told you it was worth waiting for! I'll let you know which episodes will be on just before then but in the meantime, I'll be hoping and praying heavily that this great show makes it in the lineup on a regular basis after November.
MrCleveland 10-06-2010, 09:51 PM There should be a Teletoon USA in the works soon....
Sure, we could use newer shows, but the old shows can't be pushed-out for the new shows.
Make new shows,
But keep the old.
Some are silver,
While the others, gold!
Bricolo 10-11-2010, 10:21 AM sorry wrong thread but I'd like a teletoon usa

Great poem! I think that it should apply to all series, not just cartoons. Speaking of which, here's a quick update to this weekend's lineup, followed by Teletoon Retro's November weekend highlights:

Teletoon Retro Homepage (http://www.teletoon.com/teletoon3/retro.php?language=En&func=php|templates/home.php|0&xVar=0)
All you have to do is choose your 5 favorite cartoon characters. That's it. You can vote as often as you like and then check the top 10 list to see how everyone else has voted. The contest runs until tomorrow at midnight. Once the final Top 10 list has been set, each character on the list will become the subject of a special all day marathon running from Boxing Day to the New Year so get as many votes as you can. The final results should come out before Christmas. Here are my top 5:
1. Yogi Bear
2. Scooby Doo
3. Bugs Bunny
4. Barney Rubble
5. Bullwinkle The Moose
The highest overall votegetters so far are Bugs Bunny and Scooby Doo.
MrCleveland 12-05-2010, 10:03 AM ^Thanks from the poem comment.
I got that from 'Make New Friends' song. I don't mind new shows on TV, but don't just push the old ones away!

DSfan 01-06-2011, 12:40 AM I meant to post this yesterday but you beat me to it!
I don't get it. Rocky & Bullwinkle is coming back now and what about Josie and the Pussycats? They weren't on for the last little while so I'm confused as to whether it's just a Sunday marathon thing or what.
It seems those two are just airing those couple Sundays to go along with the movie broadcasts but are not a part of their regular schedule, unfortunately.
Not really many changes but good theme going Friday with those superhero shows.
This channel is so well-run, it's awesome to see what they're up to next.

Rocky and Bullwinkle never really left, but now they're on in the early morning hours where most of my favorites have gone along with them. I think Josie and the Pussycats will return in February but I'm not positive about that yet, otherwise, I agree, why the big tribute? The only other changes of note are on Fridays which the station has designated as "80s Night" which is why He-Man and She-Ra have been added to the lineup.

Oh, wow! I swear I didn't even notice Rocky & Bullwinkle still aired regularly! My bad haha
I think they should have a Scooby-Doo block where they air an episode of each incarnation at some point during the week. Saturday mornings, perhaps? That would be a lot of fun.

You can see their Winter/Spring TV schedule here as well as the announcements for their new acquisitions.
What really surprised me was to see Stop the Smoggies, which is coming in April. I remember when Teletoon used to air it at like 5:30AM in either 1999 or 2000, around. Good Canadian addition. That would be a nice show to pair with The Raccoons if they still aired that...
If you missed the Teletoon Retro Hall Of Fame promotion last year, you get another chance to cast your votes starting today. In honour of Valentine's Day coming up, you have to choose your top 5 favourite cartoon "Sweethearts", the cutest and most romantic cartoon couples of all time. It could be Fred and Wilma Flintstone or George and Jane Jetson or if your taste in romance is a little strange, (well OK make it a lot strange), you could vote for Shaggy and Scooby-Doo! Zoinks!! Full details are here:
Teletoon Retro Hall Of Fame --- Sweethearts (http://www.teletoon.com/teletoon3/retro.php?language=en&func=php|/retro/2011_01_retroSweethearts/landing.php|0)
My top 5 as of today:
1. Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm
2. Barney and Betty Rubble
3. Fred and Wilma Flintstone
4. Daphne and Fred ("Scooby-Doo")
5. Josie and Alan ("Josie and the Pussycats")
I wasn't kidding about Shaggy and Scooby. So far in the viewer poll, reflected in the "Current Standings", they're in 2nd place! Double zoinks!!!
But, of course, your votes can change all that.
We're now into March, where the highlight for parents and kids everywhere will be the March Break spring vacation which this year will be from March 14-18. Teletoon Retro is taking full advantage of this fun time by offering all-day cartoon marathons of various series every day during March Break starting at 6 AM, interrupted by movies at 8 am, 1 pm, and 7 pm. The series which will be given this special treatment will be the following:
Josie and the Pussycats --- Sat March 12
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe --- Sun March 13
Alvin and the Chipmunks --- Mon March 14
Inspector Gadget --- Tue March 15
Rocky and Bullwinkle --- Wed March 16
Woody Woodpecker --- Thu March 17
Pink Panther --- Fri March 18
She-Ra --- Sat March 19
Little Lulu --- Sun March 20
All regular programming will be off during this period and will resume again on March 21. The popular weekend movies and Retro Rewind features will resume the following Friday (which include The New Scooby-Doo Movies Saturdays at 10:30 am which I just love!). On Sunday the 27th, the Retro Rewind spotlight will be on Captain Caveman, so he might return to the schedule in April. If he does, I'll let you know.
