TV Shows on DVD is announcing that MPI is releasing the 1978 Christmas Special on December 14. I'm guessing they don't want to confuse the marketplace with two Christmas discs at onceand are saving the Gale Gordon show for a later release, but why not put both shows on one disc? They're only 48 minutes each. Historically significant as it is the last performed Honeymooners, I enjoyed this show in its initial airing, but as a holiday show, the 1976 special is far superior. Of course, everyone knows that I want the Poor Soul Christmas from the Jackie Gleason Show as an official DVD release, but I'm guessing that clearing all of the music would be make it cost prohibitive. More's the pity. They just don't make them like that anymore...

I agree... Why they are doing this makes no sense.
This is the weaker of the 2 holiday specials...
There is no music rights to contend with in the Gale Gordon special that I can think of... Just release both already. Ridiculous!

Maybe the Burger King jingle??? But in all seriousness I agree, the 1978 special is the weaker of the two Christmas shows. While this is great to have, the 1977 is a great opportunity for MPI to get cross-over sales from Honeymooners fans and Lucy fans who would want the Gale Gordon appearance.

Yeah, I saw this a couple days ago doing my weekly Amazon search of new Honeymooners DVDs. This is great. Does anybody know if the Christmas episode where Jackie Gleason played Joe the Barber, the Miserable Soul, etc. has been or will be released on DVD?

MPI may never release this Jackie Gleason Show XMas Special, but someone on IOffer.com has it. There are pictures of the special too.

There was also a clip of the beginning of this special on youtube, but I think it was taken down.
IOffer.com, unlike ebay, doesn't have buyer protection, so if you buy something from anybody who has IOffer.com account, they may scam you. The guy who is selling this claims that it is in the public domain, but I doubt that this is true since there are many songs on this special (unless the special itself is in the public domain but the songs are not).

The person selling this is, I believe, the same person I did a trade with a couple of months back who has since fallen off the planet when I try to contact. While this person has not returned any of my emails, private messages, etc. I find it an odd coincidence that every item this person is selling was listed on his trade list he sent me when I crossed checked it.
Yup, just like Kramden I was taken to the cleaners. Lesson learned the hard way I guess ...
