Chris Noth has launched an attack on the media reaction to the last Sex And The City movie, saying that the press "killed" the franchise.

Speaking to New York Magazine at the premiere of Philip Seymour Hoffman's directorial debut Jack Goes Boating, the Mr Big actor railed against the mediocre reviews that Sex And The City 2 received on its release in May.

"It's over," he said. "The franchise is dead. The press killed it.

"Your magazine f**king killed it. New York Magazine. It's like all the critics got together and said, 'This franchise must die'. Because they all had the exact same review. It's like they didn't see the movie."

The 56-year-old then reportedly ended the interview by asking: "Got any more gum?"

One magazine's opinion is not going to influence me. And I don't think its going to kill the fan base (cult following?) of Sex And The City. I will always be game for watching anything related to it. Even if they decide to do a kajillion sequels...so...as far as I'm concerned...phooey on the mag. I love the show (and Mr. Noth is very good in it too , btw)

A magazine isn't going to kill a franchise...bad writing is. I've never seen anything Sex and the City related, but from reading several fan reviews, it seems like the second movie was a trainwreck. It has a 3.9/10 on IMDb. I'd be surprised if it didn't pick up some Razzie nominations next year.

I agree. I know some friends saw it and they said that the sequel was horrible. Never saw it (or the first one, or the show, for that matter), so I just took their word for it.

Well I didn't go to see it but that's only bec. I've never been a theatre person, and with the bedbug outbreak in NYC its going to be a long long time before I go into a theatre. Actually, the last time I went into one wasthis past summer - to see a friend in a movie. Before that, it was the first Sex And The City movie.

I have the whole show on DVD and the first movie - so I've done my share of buying & will buy anything after that when it comes down in price a bit. I know I'll enjoy it and I have enough at home to keep me busy til a good price comes around.
