I don't know how many of you remember me-I've been a member here for at least 5 years but life got in the way and I haven't visited for quite sometime. Hope everyone is well! :wave:
For those who don't remember me I'm a huge Barney Miller fan and am fortunate enough to have all the episodes recorded. The show just never gets old! I'm also fortunate enough to be Facebook friends with Max Gail and that's a lot of fun. He's a sweet man, and Wojo has always been my favorite character (although honestly there isn't a character-except Scanlon..LOL-I don't love!).
I write Barney Miller fiction for fun and if you go back a few pages you'll see the story I started posting here awhile ago. I'm sorry I never finished it. I moved and got married and life just got a bit busy! In my fic the 12th reopened a year later after the developer went bankrupt trying to restore it and as a result, the city bought it back. When the guys heard they promptly requested transfers, only to discover the Captain is a newly demoted Scanlon! Barney, who's come to realize he really hates being a deputy inspector and upon being informed he's in line to replace the retiring Inspector Lugar, decided to swallow his pride and request a demotion back to Captain because as he put it "I'm on the train to Lugarville!"
There's also a few new faces at the 12th, namely a female officer who is following in her uncle Phil's footsteps. The guys are pleasantly surprised to find out Officer Emily O'Malley is Fish's (he never forgave his sister for marrying an Irishman! :) ) niece but wonder why Fish never mentioned her. The visiting former detective is quick to explain: "You never asked!" :)
Wojo is very taken with her but is reluctant to act on his feelings after getting his heart broken by Janice Wentworth and admires her from afar, but it turns out Dietrich is interested in Emily as well!
Anyway, that's my little Barney Miller universe. I won't tell you if Barney got his demotion, what happened to Scanlon, or who won Emily's heart. :) If there is any interest I'll start posting my stories again. :)
BTW Catlover, I know EXACTLY how you feel! I wrote to my favorite actor of all time (who was a TV cop too and around the same time but on a crime drama on NBC) about 12 years ago and not only did he respond, but we became friends and now I run his website and Facebook fan page and I am his publicist! Wonderful things can happen in this crazy world and I'm glad you're in touch with Gregory Sierra! I loved Chano and was sad to see him go.
