September 18th, 1970 - James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix died in his London apartment at the age of 27. The death was from an overdose of sleeping pills.

Of the Big Three Deaths that would put the nail to the coffin of the 60's...which is Hendrix, Joplin, and Morrison...I miss Hendrix the most.

Without a doubt Jimi Hendrix is the greatest guitar player ever. He was doing things nobody was even thinking about, and everybody has been copying him ever since. I dont think we will ever see a musician like him again. At least not in my lifetime.
