What board games do you like to play?



I like Monopoly, and Trivia Pursuit


I have always wanted to learn how to play both Scrabble and Chess.

I mainly only play checkers and chess today, as a far as board games though.

Within the last few years, I learned Mahjong from a few Chinese neighbors.



I'm more of a card player; Poker (Texas Hold Em in particular) and Blackjack.

Same here...also Monopoly, Scrabble, Clue, and Backgammon.

Of the ones already mentioned, I like Monopoly, Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit. I also like Risk and Scattergories. But I can't stand Chess or Yahtzee.

I LOVE Scattergories!! Years ago, I was closing manager at Burger King, and during the summer, when the kids were off school, after we all finished up at night, my crew & I would sit out in the dining room until 2 or 3am playing Scattergories.

On Trivial Pursuit, we have many versions of TP - music, movies, pop culture, and we also have a couple DVD versions that you also use a board to play. Love that game, too!!

I also rememeber playing alot of Stratego, Clue, Sorry, and one game called Trouble, too when I was a kid.

I like Monopoly, Scrabble, Backgammon, Sorry, Clue and various trivia games.

I remember getting Trouble for my birthday as a kid. Man, none of us had ever seen ANYTHING like a pop-o-matic!

For card games, I love bridge, and hearts is fun. Bridge is easily the best card game ever imo

I am a HUGE Backgammon fan, and have been since I won my college championship.

I used to like to play Monopoly. I had the entire board memorized. It was just easier that way for me due to my vision. I knew what each square said, etc.

i used to like to play Sorry, Trouble, Uno, SkipBo, Free Parking, Twister, Connect Four, Yahtzee, etc.

I like games like Candy Land,Aggravation,Monopoly,Life.........

But I like them BEFORE THE 80s as they have totally ruined the games I know and love........ The current version of Candy land is a piece of garbage!!! -- They have dumbed it down so much and made it look horrendous!!

The last GOOD/Original release of candyland was the 1978 one which I thankfully have!!

Very upsetting... The 80s were more destructive than any other decade!!

I agree that the 1980's was basically when things started going downhill.

On the subject of board games, I have a few old ones from the 1960's & 70's. One game that I have is from 1961, it's called United Nations. This game is now rare and difficult to find so I imagine it probably has some collectors value.

Ghost Castle (the board was three dimensional, you set it up to look like a castle)



In my teens through early 20's, a group of friends and I spent many an hour playing Dungeons & Dragons (paper & pencil), but we also spent a lot of time playing Risk, plus:
Vampyre (A Dracula-themed board game from the same company that made Dungeons & Dragons. It was set in Transylvania, the board was paper, and you had to cut out the card board player pieces.

... and the HP Lovecraft themed Arkham Horror.

Another horror themed board game what was a similar setup to Vampyre, was Dawn Of The Dead (based on the movie), it wasn't the greatest game. But I still have mine, and it seems to be a sought-after collector's item now.


Not a board game, but the VHS game CLUE: VCR Mystery Game, you watched a VHS tape that had all of the characters from Clue (not to be confused with the theatrical movie), you would have to then use cards which would ask you various things you had just seen. The VHS was broke up in different sections. Years later I transferred it to DVD, then made chapters, it made it so much easier than always having to forward and rewinding the tape.

I can play Chess somewhat, taught myself how to play back in the early 90's when I got the Sega CD game Star Wars Chess. And have improved as when my wife started playing it when we were still dating, we still play, but I'm not much of a challenge for her. haha

Scrabble, Monopoly, & Clue are my favs.

I also like Chinese Checkers and Candy Land is very nostalgic for me.

Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders( I loved as a kid and with my kids) , also loved a game I played with my kids called Guess who ! :)

When I got a little older I LOVED The game of life and Mystery date, also Parcheesi & Monopoly :) Also loved card games like Old Maid, Crazy 8's , Kings in the corner ! :)

I have always loved board games and have gotten some from when I was a child and many of my childhood games I still have today. My very first board games were Candy Land and Chutes And Ladders and my Mom and I would play it all the time and I would always win. Then as I grew older I liked Skip-Bo and I learned how to play it from my mother because she and my grandmother and my stepgrandfather used to play Skip-Bo when they would spend the night in their travel trailer when they would visit us every summer and winter and Skip-Bo I still play today and my mom is an ace at it and wins every time. Phase 10 was another card game my grandmother had that she taught Mom and I to play and Mom was an ace at it too though not as good as my grandmother but Grandma would accuse Mom of skipping phases at first but soon Mom caught on to Phase 10 easily. I recently got Family Feud's Steve Harvey's Strikeout for Christmas and from the box I read it's a really cool card game but my game didn't come with instructions so we haven't played it yet. It's a shame that today's board games aren't as great as the original versions and I don't why board games like The Game Of Life and Trouble and Connect Four and classic card games like Uno and Skip-Bo have to get modernized for the generation of today. Because there's nothing better than spending a rainy day or a relaxing vacation with your kids playing board games that bring family time together with your loved ones

I used to be a psycho whiz at SCRABBLE. I knew EVERY acceptable 2-letter word and I could rack up points fast by building off of other words and creating at least 4/5 words at a time. I miss playing this game but my friend that used to play with me moved away.

Growing up, my parents owned an adult drinking-themed board game called Pass Out. As kids, we were all intrigued by it since it was a board game for adults only, so when we finally reached the age we could drink alcohol, my friends and I finally got to play it. We played it once. It was lame. I still own it though.

Did anyone mention Ludo? How children today are being short-changed..
