I know she guest starred in an episode in 1975 and would pass away 4 years later. Was this Vivian's final tv appearance?

No it wasn't. Viv appeared on TV three more times after her Rhoda appearance. She appeared in two TV movies (The Great Houdini in 1976 and Lucy Calls the President in 1977) and guested on the TV series Sam in 1978.

Thanks so much Marv! :)

Wasn't there talk at the time of making Vivian Vance a regular?

I think its incredibly interesting that Vivian Vance guest-starred on Valerie Harper's show. They had in common that they were both the side kicks of more legendary stars. (Lucy and Mary, of course!)

I was under the impression that she was to be a regular on the series as well. Wonder what happened? I'd rather have seen her as a co-star with her endearing character, than the awful character 'Sally' by Anne Meara.

Her health may have been a factor. By the time of her appearance on Lucy Calls the President in 1977 she had had a stroke.
