Rezny@gmail.com 09-15-2010, 09:12 PM Most of the rest I really didn't care for.
CAJeannieFan57 09-15-2010, 09:59 PM I liked most of the first season episodes. My favorite has to be "Guess What Happened On the Way to the Moon" (third episode), with "The Great Yacht Murder Case" and "The Richest Astronaut in the World" right behind those. Of course, I'm a big Major Healey/Bill Daily fan.

Personally I thought the first season was one of the best in terms of writing. Although I have heard the director of the first eight or nine episodes, Gene Nelson, was not very nice (reportedly he and Larry Hagman did not get along) and subsequently fired I think he did a superb job. By most accounts he is the one who found the "Jeannie" bottle used in the series and came up with Jeannie's trademark folding of her arms and blinking her eyes. That being said the early part of the first season were some of the best episodes in my opinion. It also seems that Jeannie seems a bit more savvy and "in the know" while still being sweet, innocent and naive'. Some of my favorites from the first season are:
1) The Americanization of Jeannie
2) The Moving Finger
3) Never Try To Outsmart A Jeannie
4) Too Many Tonys
5) I'll Never Forget What's Her Name
6) Russian Roulette
7) Anybody Here Seen Jeannie
TV Knowledge Fan 09-21-2010, 03:00 AM 1) "The Lady in the Bottle" [THE most perfect pilot episode ever produced, in my humble opinion]
2) "Guess What Happened on the Way to the Moon?" [nice location filming in the Mojave Desert]
3) "Jeannie and the Marriage Caper" [the Melissa storyline finally comes to an end]
4) "The Yacht Murder Case"
5) "Anybody Here Seen Jeannie?" [nice exam scenes filmed at Edwards Air Force Base, and Jeannie's confusing Dr. Bellows to the point where he proclaims, "I'm dead!"]
6) "The Americanization of Jeannie" [for one thing, Jeannie looks adorable dressed in "Tony's suit"]
7) "The Moving Finger" [movie producer Henry Tracy (Woodrow Parfrey) is supposed to be like "Irwin Allen", producing his own version of "Fantastic Voyage" {"Keep this picture believable!'"}; Jeannie's "screen test" {"The Rubiyat of Omar Khayyiam" actually lasts about 105 stanzas, but she appears to recite only two}; and there's the touching scene between Tony and Jeannie in the projection room at the climax]
8) "Whatever Became of Baby Custer?" [Billy Mumy is great {"Do headshrinkers give lollipops?"}, so's Herb Voland {"Nancy, I simply cannot cope with him any longer! We need professional help for your son."/"[B]My son? You're the one who ordered me to have a boy!"/"Uh-uh...not this one..."}]
10) "Where'd You Go-Go?" [Jeannie meets Roger for the first time, and Tony's jealous]
11) "Too Many Tonys" [Tony hates the "romantic double" Jeannie conjures up {"'The Student Prince' is back!"}; General Peterson makes his first appearance]
12) "The Richest Astronaut in the Whole Wide World" [Roger finally discovers what Jeannie is, and tries to take advantage of the situation {"Oh, (my master) did not wish for any cars or gold or beautiful girls!"/"You mean to tell me he didn't wish for one single thing??"/"No, he did not wish for any of these!"/"Well, then I take it back! He's not a miser, he's stupid!!"}]
13) "Bigger Than a Breadbox and Better Than a Genie" [Sidney Sheldon's wife and mother are guest stars; the seance is a riot]
14) "My Master, the Magician" ["But, General! I saw the girl, I saw the food..."/"And you're gonna see me in my office first thing tomorrow morning at eight o'clock! We're gonna talk about waking up generals in the middle of the night!!"]
15) "I'll Never Forget What's-Her-Name" [what better way to end the first season?]

The Lady In The Bottle
Where'd You Go-Go?
jehobden 09-21-2010, 07:32 PM My favorite episode from Season 1 was "What House Across the Street?", with Jeannie's phony parents who recited tv commercial lines and Roger's reaction to them.
TV Knowledge Fan 09-22-2010, 12:33 AM ...as one of my "personal favorites", but I wanted to keep my list down to about 15 choices. :wink2: But you're right, 'jehobden', it is a very funny episode. I especially liked Dr. Bellows' reaction on seeing a newly constructed mansion on his vacant lot he just saw "vacant" earlier in the day, trying to rationalize what he's seeing with Tony {"Now, Captain, since both of us are basically scientists, that we know, that with modern methods of pre-fabrication, it is entirely possible to build a house within 20 minutes! You believe that, don't you, Captain?"/"No, sir."/"I don't, either!"}.

billdailyfanct 09-24-2010, 09:35 AM I liked "The Great Yacht Murder Case", When Roger first met Jeannie and when he finds out that she was a Genie, The House Across the Street Episode, Is There an Extra Jeannie in the House, My Master, the Doctor, I'll Never Forget What's Her Name, Lady In The Bottle. Mostly liked all of season one as Rogert is my favorite character as I am too a Bill Daily fan.
