Hello!

I noticed that on both The Lucy Show - The Official First and Second Season sets, there is a note on the back of the packaging. There are two notes for the first season.

Here is what they say...

First Season:

"Some episodes may be edited from their original network versions. Music has been changed for this home entertainment version."


Second Season:

"Some episodes may be edited from their original network versions."


I am curious as to what was changed.

Can anyone answer that please? I was under the impression that the original negatives were used, etc.

Is this just a legal thing because the syndication promos were used and "Vintage" was an Option and thus this message had to be inserted? Perhaps music changes were present in the syndicated openings?

I'm guessing they're trying to cover themselves for some legal reason. As far as I can tell, all the episodes are full length (25 mins, 30 secs), and I haven't noticed any music being changed.

I think they use that on all DVD packages for legal reasons. Because I've seen that message on other DVD sets to like "I Love Lucy" or "7th Heaven". That doesen't nessessery mean the episodes are edited from thier original versions it just means they could be. I believe the episodes in the "Lucy Show" DVDs are taken from original prints.
