Have you ever played? I had an uncle teach me when I was about 16. I liked it and wasn't bad at it. I didn't stick with it, and I wouldn't know how to play at all now. Lots of thinking and strategizing with that game.

Maybe someday I hope. JamesG 09-15-2010, 06:21 PM Learned when I was about 13-14 from my dad and uncle. When I go to hookah bars I sometimes play if there's somebody to play with. Mr. Television 09-15-2010, 06:27 PM I never played but my Dad and Uncle used to when he'd visit us. Every year they'd sit at the kitchen table and play. Every once in a while you'd hear the chess game go flying. lol Family Ties Forever! 09-16-2010, 02:59 AM No, I've never played chess. I don't know how. Lots of thinking and strategizing with that game. That sounds similar to my situation. My brother tried to teach me when we were kids (I think he just wanted someone to play with! LOL). I got how all the pieces move, but I could never quite pick up the strategy of it. I wish I could get so I could at least play a game. But I guess the strategy part is something you either have or you don't. MrCleveland 09-16-2010, 07:28 AM I play chess once in awhile, I learned when I was 10 with chess strategies written on the pieces. King-Move any direction, but only one square. Queen-Move any direction and move up to eight squares. Bishop-Moves diagonally, but can move up to eight squares. Knight-Moves very differently in a L format and up to three squares. Rook-Moves straight, but can move up to eight squares. Pawn-Can only move one square (two at the beginning) and can only go forward and capture diagonally. catlover79 09-16-2010, 11:39 AM Nope - never learned how. But then again, I'm not good at games of strategy. Heck, I even lose at tic tac toe!! :o  dakert 09-16-2010, 01:12 PM My 6th grade teacher Mr (I'll Box Your Ears) Owens taught me how to play chess. dlemond 09-16-2010, 02:03 PM Have you ever played? Freshman year at college a couple guys taught me. Of course they were good and I lost every game. I let it go after that. Always thought about trying again. JamesG 09-16-2010, 02:42 PM I forgot to mention before that I also learned how to play from one of those old-school CD-Roms. Back when my parents got Windows 95 the computer came with a booklet of CDs and one of them was a how-to-learn-to-play chess thing. Dude111 02-16-2025, 06:04 PM I found a nice small chess game and its awesome!
