Marvo301 09-12-2010, 12:34 AM The first time I saw Partridge Family 2200 AD the first thought to cross my mind was this sure looks a lot like The Jetsons. Later I found out that both shows were produced by Hanna Barbera so I guess it makes sense that there would be similarities. TV Knowledge Fan 09-12-2010, 02:43 AM ...this series was the brainchild of Fred Silverman, CBS' chief programmer for Saturday mornings (1963-'75) as well as its prime-time schedule (1970-'75). He scheduled two highly succesful cartoon shows based on popular live-action sitcoms of the '60s for the 1973-'74 season {"JEANNIE" and "MY FAVORITE MARTIANS"}, and decided a "futuristic" version of "THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY" would be equally successful for 1974-'75...and who better to produce it than his old friends at Hanna-Barbera? However, "PARTRIDGE FAMILY: 2200 A.D." was not a success, as it vanished from the schedule in the summer of '75, just as Silverman went to ABC as their #1 programmer, slightly improving their Saturday mornings as well.... :tv: |
