I saw that episode recently when Tootie being a big Jermaine Jackson fan. The episode demonstrated what idol worship is about and being obsessed to a point it was an addiction. What bothered me about the episode was Tootie nearly having a nervous breakdown when Mrs. Garrett told her she cannot go because of a prior commitment she made plus she was not doing her schoolwork. When Tootie started that screaming and throwing a tantrum Mrs. Garrett should had disciplined her instead of giving in to her. That was one powerful episode but handled wrongly in the way Mrs. Garrett gave in to her.

Exactly what it was a tantrum. I did not like how Mrs. Garrett handled herself in that episode. She acted as though she was afraid of Tootie. In real life it was you're not going and that is final. In real life when a child was told no you can't have something or you cannot go that was final. If a child was to tell a parent or parental figure in real life the opposite of what was told to them it would have been on. That entire episode was badly mishandled.

That is easily my least favorite episode of FOL. If it had been MICHAEL Jackson, then at his white-hot peak with Thriller, I'd understand Tootie's obsession. Understand it, not agree with it. But of course, they'd never be able to get Michael, so they had to settle for Jermaine.

I agree. It's almost like Tootie bullied Mrs. Garrett into letting her go. If I was Mrs G I would have said no and if Tootie continued to freak out i would have called the guidance counselor and her parents.

The storyline would have made more sense if all those previous episodes Tootie had been crushing on Jermaine and not Michael.
