Did you have any idea that Lisa Whelchel (aka Blair Warner from The Facts of Life) cut a pop album back in the ’80s? Neither did we. And she’s certainly not alone when it comes to unlikely TV stars crossing over into the world of music. We’ve rounded up 10 of the most surprising examples we could find after the jump.

I'd never heard of most of those albums myself. By the way, the YouTube song of Lisa Whelchel's is called "Love Believer". Fun song.

Those I knew about, except Cybill. When did she put out an album?

In regards to Scott Baio, I seem to recall that the series, Joanie Loves Chachi was somewhat of a farce because Scott couldn't even carry a tune, (or was it Erin Moran?)

I thought Erin was OK - it was Scott who couldn't carry a tune!! Granted, Erin was/is no Karen Carpenter or Linda Ronstadt, but I thought she had a pretty enough voice. There are several JLC eps on YouTube, so check them out and you be the judge.

Jack Wagner (formerly of Melrose Place, now on Bold & the Beautiful) cut this album in 1984, when he was on General Hospital. The title track made it to #2 on the pop charts (kept out of the top slot by Madonna's "Like a Virgin"). Even though the production is pretty dated (hey, it was the 80s!), it's still a fun listen.

Well, they were banking on a teen idol to sell records regardless of their singing ability. I read somewhere years ago that when Whitney Houston was a teen model, record companies were going to offer her a contract whether or not she could carry a tune. Imagine the collective sigh of relief Clive Davis and Arista Records breathed when they first heard her voice!!

'Street Faërie' in 1999 was Cree Summer's first full length solo album.

She's mostly known for her voice acting (as 'Elmyra' in "Tiny Toon Adventures" and as 'Susie' in "Rugrats".. among many others); as well as her live role on "A Different World".

Her solo record wasn't widely successful and it was meant for her to spread her Neo-Pagan and human rights beliefs through pop and folk song.

Lenny Kravitz was a special guest singer on the album for one song.

Stepfanie Kramer of Hunter was also doing singing work as she was seen singing in some episodes (notably the 1st 3 seasons) and also did singing work even after Hunter ended.

William Shatner did singing work, though more as speaking in exaggeration than singing.

I knew Joey Lawrence did. I thought he's done a few albums?

Bobbie Eakes on All My Children had a hit song out with Colin Raye, not sure if she had an album

What about Crystal Bernard from Wings?

Oh yes. Crystal Bernard has several CDs out - here's a cover. Also included is a cover of Bobbie Eakes' CD. I like that duet she did with Collin Raye ("Tired of Loving This Way") - I think the video got a lot of airplay on CMT at the time.

I love that Moonlighting album cover. I think I'll look for a copy of that, even if there's no record inside...!

I remember seeing one of Crystal Bernard's CDs at a "Dollar Bazaar" store -- I think it may have been the album catlover79 pictured. So if you have one of those stores in your area, prepare to shell out the princely sum of $1.00

I have always been a fan of TV actors/actresses that have singing careers and when they release an album I grab it. I got Tatyana Ali's debut album when it came out and was surprised that she had a great voice and I was shocked that Tatyana Ali didn't release another album but instead focused on her acting career. Another actor I would love to see release an album is Alfonso Ribeiro and if he released an album I would be the first to buy it. One other actor that was popular in the 80's that also had a singing career was soap star Michael Damian and he released a cover of the David Essex 70's hit Rock On and has released lots of albums today

I actually have a cassette copy of Crystal Bernard's The Girl Next Door and I really like her voice. If I remember I found it an area Goodwill Store. I remember when she was first releasing albums back in the 90s she did a duet with a singer that was popular at the time named Billy Dean who I really enjoyed too. But I can't remember the song title anymore And I haven't heard anything about him many years now. I wonder what's happened to him. I wouldn't say most of these actors' albums are "secret" just not well known by most people.

Or Tom Wopat!

Or Catherine Bach. Yes Catherine Bach who played Daisy Duke put out an album. But unlike John Schneider's and Tom Wopat's stuff it flopped and I don't think she ever recorded again. Whereas Schneider and Wopat both have released several albums. I think Bach's album if I remember was titled All American Country Girl. But I never even heard any of her stuff played on the radio so I have no idea what her singing voice sounds like.

Was that the song that has the lyrics
"All I Need Is Just A Little More Time To Be Sure What I Feel"?
Jack Wagner's song All I Need gets a lot of airplay on my soft rock radio station and I think that the song All I Need really made Jack Wagner a huge crush among teenage girls and when he played the character Frisco on General Hospital Jack's popularity continued to soar. And Jack Wagner's singing career is still going strong today

Jack Wagner’s singing career wasn’t a secret. His character on GH was originally in a band, and they played/promoted quite a few of his songs on the show.

I've listened to Roma Downey's album Healing Angel and it's such a wonderful album and I love all the poems and inspirational blessings she reads and recites on it. I sure wish Roma Downey could release another cd of inspirational poems because she reads with such skill and it's very relaxing to listen to when you feel stressed
