Cathy had a fabulous wardrobe and hairdo in the final season. This season also focused too much on the Patty Lane character and Cathy suddenly became British. Kudos to Shout Factory for making the box sets consistent.

Watching these episodes the Cathy character looks different than in previous seasons. The bigger hair, trendier clothes, louder voice, make-up, and false eyelashes.

That mid-60s style of mod make-up that was utilized on Patty and Cathy in the 3rd-season didn't really 'film' too well in black-and-white. I think it would have worked much better in color, but it still often had a heavy tendency to hide expressiveness. Always seemed more appropriate for some spy-movie heroine or Life Magazine fashion layout, not a teen-age gal. The hair, fashions, and everything else was fine, though.

I've also noticed the heavy eye makeup on Patty and Cathy in season 3. I always figured it was an attempt to make the girls look more mature, as they were getting older. Maybe the producer thought it was time for Patty and Cathy to look more like young women instead of teenage girls.

I guess the girls are seniors and wanted to look older so they slathered on the make-up.

After viewing all these Season 3 episodes IMO it ended with a whimper not a bang. I got an overdose of the "Patty Lane" character she really dominated the episodes back2back2back2back....Towards the end of the shows run, Cathy was not showing up or was in 2 or 3 quick scenes. I could have envisioned some Patty Lane episodes going to Cathy. "The Invisible Boy" could have been a good example or "Do A Brother(Cousin - in the case of Cathy) A Favor".

Just got done watching this. I liked season three a lot, but I will admit the focus was a lot on Patty way more than Cathy. Maybe at this point Patty Duke was tired of playing a dual role. That said I think they could have made to one more season.
OH Nuts!

I finally got S#3 as a gift a few weeks ago. It is WONDERFUL. Just when you think SHOUT! can't outdo itself - IT DOES! With those killer bonus goodies esp. - the Reunion Movie. I missed it and always hoped that one day I would come across it again - and there.
It's wonderful having the whole series now. Now I just have to find the time to watch all of them. I kind of drifted off after the first 6-7 eps of S#2 -- got real busy with work, the holidays, etc. - but I plan to have me a Patty Duke marathon in the near future!
