In an article dated August 19th, 1977, it was announced that Esther Rolle was leaving 'Good Times' due to "ill health." Austin Kalish who was a Producer of the show issued a cold statement saying that the Florida Evans character would leave the show in a "very dramatic & realistic" way. Moses Gunn was negotiating with Good Times to stay on as a "Father Figure" to the kids. Florida on the other hand according to the columnist speculated that she was to die in a plane crash. *Sigh*

What was with the producers of Good Times and dramatic exits. They killed James Evans off in a motor vehicle crash and then they wanted to kill off Florida in a plane crash?

I guess in a way cooler heads prevailed & they didn't wipe out Florida Evans (thank goodness)

Indeed, if I was a crew member, I would have unleashed a mass of pies onto Austin and Irma Kalish and then doused them in slime and then doused them again.

Indeed, if I was a crew member, I would have gotten into a brawl with those stupid producers.

Thank you! There was a lot of ignorance coming from the higher ups.

I couldn't agree more, but you know what really pisses me off? It's the fact that the Kalishes pretty much escaped karma.
