Some of those on the list were scary, but to me, there were ones that were much scarer. Here are my 7 scariest segments:
Redwood City Arsonist
Cindy Anderson
Mothman
Son of Sam murders
Ohio Prostitute murders
Orange sock murders
"The Guardian" UFO
Oooga Chucka 08-29-2010, 08:31 PM Thanks for posting. X is a great site that I haven't looked at in years. I love being reminded of the 80s whether it is through Gary Coleman, GI Joe, or retromercials. Thanks again!
MegtheEgg86 08-29-2010, 09:23 PM Actually, I wrote a very similar article myself on RetroJunk.com years ago. Here's a link:

It was only meant to be a sampling, but I think the scariest probably are:
NH Serial Killer
"Debbie"
Jeeves/Korper
Oberholtzer/Schnee
Ives/Henry
Picard/Laferte
Dorothy Donovan
ATV Murders
Judy Hyams
Nyleen Kay Marshall
Dexter Stefonek
Kathy Bonderson
And for the record, the Harold and Thelma Swain segment used to routinely scare the water out of me.

Excellent article. The fact that it was written by a fan definitely helps.

Great article, Meg. :)
SageSlowdive 08-30-2010, 09:48 PM Glad they included the Blind River segment...the only one to give me nightmares, and still does...
Here's my Top 5 scariest:
1. Blind River Murders
2. Angela Hammond
3. Dick Hansen
4. Matthew Chase
5. The Orange Socks Murders
HM: Dorothy Donovan & Beverly McGowan
Litigator 09-06-2010, 01:24 AM Great articles! If I may...
My top 7 creepiest in no particular order:
-Blind River Murders
-Dorothy Donovan
-Tom Johnson
-Dick Hansen
-Loretta Myers
-Devin Williams
-Cindy James
The actual stories are creepy on their own but those re-enactments just burn images into your memory. It also didn't help that UM became my favourite TV show during my grade school years.

Yep, I thought so too. :)
Corkys-Place 09-18-2010, 04:29 AM The Tara Calico abduction (With that Polaroid photo) and the Son of Sam shootings showing the scary composite drawings were right up there for me in the spook factor. I was only 12-13 at the time which might have been the reason they stood out for me back in the late-late '80's. :alien:
