There were rumors to the fact that she was a lush & a "Maneater." I also read somewhere that she actually sued Bob Denver! True or just tabloid trash?

While it's true that Bob said some very ungentlemanly things about Tina in his book, "Gilligan, Maynard and Me" (A shame - I wish his editor or Dreama had convinced him to be more reticent. Those comments were uncharacteristic of that very gentle man.) I don't recall him calling her a "lush" or a "maneater." Here is Tina Louise's response to the news of his death in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in September 2005:

Tina Louise remembers Bob Denver
JAN. 9, 1935-SEPT. 2, 2005

Bob's character on Gilligan's Island was lovable, wacky, and charming. You laughed with him and at him as he did silly things. He was curious like a child, playful and boyish. Children loved him, and families enjoyed watching him together. Bob's mind was very quick — as an actor he talked very fast. But as a person, he was shy and introspective. He was my favorite person to work with. It was a joy for me to flirt with him, to try to charm him to do whatever I wanted — to help me get my way on the island or certainly to help me get off the island, which, of course, I never did. It's amazing, the way the show has lasted and the pleasure we've brought to so many people — it has taken a while to really grasp how much pleasure. Bob's comedy was clever and fun, and will live forever.

Doesn't sound like someone who would sue him. Yep - those rumours sound like tabloid trash to me.

I don't think Tina got along with Dawn Wells, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the responses guys. I really appreciate them! From all the reading I did, it was definite that Tina Louise didn't always follow "Hollywood Protocol."

One article I read said she actually wanted to boycott the Emmys in defense of supporting actors and actresses. By no means did that make her a bad person though.

Even had Bob Denver called Tina a "lush", "Maneater" or even going as far as calling Tina a "whor*"...Unless Tina had lost a role as a direct result of those comments and was able to prove it..well Tina can't sue even if she had wanted too because of Bob's right of free speech ( his opinons ).

But I agree with "callensensel"..this is tabloid trash, almost in the same ballpark as the "rumor" that if one looks at Tom Cruise or Katie Holmes in the eye..they will sue you. UGH !!!!!!!!!!!
