I attended the Wed. August 25 2010 taping of "Mike & Molly". The taping was on Stage 24 at the Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank (incidentally, it is the old "Friends" stage!) I have been to a handful of television show tapings over the years here in LA, and I must say, for a show that is so new, the production was seemingly flawless. As with most sitcom tapings, it is long because they shoot each scene a few times. The taping started at 6:30 and lasted about 3 1/2 hours. I once sat for a taping of "Cybil" that lasted almost six hours...insane!
I had never heard of the show until I was invited to see a taping by a friend and I must say, it seems pretty darn funny. I like the lead actors and nice to see Swoosie Kurtz again. Katy Mixon is a riot! Audiences will love her I think.
If you are excited about the premiere of this show, I don't think you will be disappointed. They previewed the pilot episode for us before we saw last night's episode being taped and it was funny!
The production is headed by people who are responsible for "Two and a Half Men", "The Big Bang Theory" and "Roseanne". And to round it out, it is directed by the legendary director James Burrows (Cheers, Frasier & Will & Grace.) With seasoned vets in the production chair and a funny, talented cast, I think this show will be a surefire hit.
