And going to alternatives like the Web, DVD's, OTA etc.? I still find value in my cable subscription, but could see myself in a few years considering the alternatives out there. Especially with the way, a lot of tv networks are becoming similar to one another. Your thoughts?

Definitely. Not a lot of my time is spent watching TV. I'm more likely to be watching shows or video clips on the internet. I'll watch the occasional rerun or new show, but that's about it.

No. I still like to watch some stuff live, and I like the option of channel surfing on lazy days.

In all honesty, there just isn't much on TV anymore and I have heard from a lot of people that they are canceling cable/dish and going back to the Free antenna for locals and watching more DVDs.

No for me. I still watch TV more so during the season versus the Summer. I'm watching iCarly, Big Time Rush, and reruns of 2 And A Half Men.

No, since so much of the stuff I watch is new/original, I'd rather watch it on my TV than stream it on my 14" computer screen in lower quality. Plus I watch movies sometimes that I wouldn't go buy on DVD as well as news shows. I hardly even watch anything on the local channels so antennas aren't an option.

I keep hearing about services like Apple TV and Boxee, that are supposed to allow you to stream content on your tv. Are they any good? Also, I've read that Google plans on coming out with a service that brings the internet to your tv, called "Google TV".

Any experiences with any of these? I've heard that they haven't had a high penetration rate in the marketplace.

I watch a lot of cable shows and some of these shows can't be watched legally online. There is still good quality sitcoms and dramas but the writers of these shows are using different approaches than what was used in the past. You just have to be willing to accpet these approaches. I think the biggest reason main 4 networks are having trouble is because most of their shows are too predictable and use too much recycled material from the past. Only a few broadcast network shows have quality acting and writing.

I'm pretty happy with DirecTV subscription because I also watch a lot of sports.

The problem with watching shows online whether its on a legal site like Hulu, TVLand, fancast or an illegal on ( gotta look it up yourself ) is that a lot of shows don't stay there for some reason. In other words, they are there for awhile then suddenly they end up vanished, often without warning.

Examples..well take Leave it to Beaver on TV Land's site...a few weeks ago several shows were available, alas now it looks like the Bev is getting let go by TV Land's site.

A few years back AOL IN2TV had Alice, Flo, the New Dick Van Dyke Show, The Flintstones...one day GONE !!

Hulu had The Hollywood Squares with Peter Marshall for a time..now gone and Hulu keeps threatening they "may" be doing away with Emergency and a few other shows.

The illegal sites...of course they are even more unstable but in that case it is expected anyway.

Nah, until the sites like TV Land, Hulu and the others become more stable with thier offerings, at my house I will keep the cord connected.

I'm trying out one of this Netflix Unlimited packages for $8.99 that has live streaming and so far it's pretty neat. I'm not considering doing away with my cable subscription anytime yet due to live sports and a few other channels (Syfy, USA, TCM), but if I had to I could definitely live on the Netflix selection easily. Maybe it's because I'm young and more welcoming to modern technology.
