View Full Version : Be Honest! Gordon Jump: Arthur Carlson Or The Bicycle Man? Brian Damage 08-23-2010, 06:48 PM Whenever you see the late Gordon Jump on a tv show, do you immediately think Mr Carlson from 'WKRP' or the creepy "Bicycle Man"ho guest starred on Diff'rent Strokes??? dlemond 08-23-2010, 08:31 PM Well, I saw WKRP first, so he was always Mr. Carlson to me. And though I saw the Bicycle Man episode when it first aired, I really don't ever associate him with that. robyrob 08-23-2010, 08:44 PM he'll always be the Big Guy to me. catlover79 08-23-2010, 08:45 PM Big Guy!!! Immediately after that, Joanna Kerns' dad on Growing Pains. :D dlemond 08-23-2010, 08:50 PM Big Guy!!! Immediately after that, Joanna Kerns' dad on Growing Pains. :D That's my next association also. But I did see him on Soap before WKRP, I would figure that assocation would be before Growing Pains. And he appeared in 12 episodes of Soap and 11 of GP. What I didn't know was that Gordon Jump was on The Love Boat 6 times! catlover79 08-23-2010, 08:56 PM Plus, I'll always remember him as THIS MAN before the Bicycle Man: catlover79 08-23-2010, 08:58 PM I also came across this blog filled with sweet stories and memories about the still-missed Mr. Jump. No matter what, he'll always be remembered above all else for the immortal line: "As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly." http://www.blogofdeath.com/archives/000345.html Marvo301 08-23-2010, 09:50 PM I also came across this blog filled with sweet stories and memories about the still-missed Mr. Jump. They speak volumes about the character of a man who is obviously dearly missed. catlover79 08-24-2010, 12:51 AM Those are great tributes to Gordon Jump. They speak volumes about the character of a man who is obviously dearly missed. Amen!! Plus, his funny and warm personality came through loud and clear when he, Loni Anderson, Howard Hesseman, Tim Reid and Frank Bonner appeared on Family Feud way back when. I wish I could've met him. glickmam 05-18-2011, 09:45 AM Plus, I'll always remember him as THIS MAN before the Bicycle Man: I couldn't agree more, catlover79. Many people saw Mr. Jump more as the Maytag repairman than as the creepy bicycle man. In fact, Mr. Jump was so identified with Maytag, that Maytag customers would frequently approach him to ask him for help with their appliances. Miss Lisa 05-22-2011, 10:48 PM I have a really hard time seeing him as the creepy bicycle man. I always think of Mr. Carlson, that and Tinkler from Soap. m campbell 05-28-2011, 10:38 PM Arthur Carlson first and then Soap. |
