View Full Version : Please Stop Double Posting
Janice 08-20-2010, 03:09 PM Send messages ONCE. They will post. If you make a mistake and can delete it yourself, then do so. If not, let me know by reporting the post. Someone actually let their post go FOUR times and didn't let anyone know. Until things are fixed, please don't keep hitting the Reply button. I know it's frustrating, but be patient. Thanks.
OH Nuts! 08-20-2010, 04:04 PM I know I've been having trouble with the computers I've been logging onto. When I went to send you a pm it somehow went twice - but the screen was frozen at the same place for over 3 minutes so I didn't know what was going on. If it was from my computer or SO. And then when I sent you an apology pm THAT went 2X too and also was stuck for a few minutes. Oy! Sorry for those, but I wasn't sure what was up.
I HATE it when something I send posts twice - but I'm truly not aware this is happening. If its the SO system, then when things seem to freeze I'll just log off and hope for a better time the next day -
MickeyMac 08-20-2010, 04:23 PM Another thing, this site has been running real slow lately. It takes the longest time for a page to load, and for a comment to post. Could this be fixed please?
Janice 08-20-2010, 04:46 PM Mickey, I don't know what's going on there. Maybe you can ask on the Suggestion board. I'm sorry I'm not helpful there. And Rich, there's no need to apologize. I think I just get frustrated. I don't want members to worry if they post too much. It's not their fault. I can delete the extra posts or threads.
I remember a few months ago, I made a thread, and kept sending it. I looked and half the Chit Chat page had my thread. It looked so weird. I almost fell off my chair, lol.
spunkygirl 08-20-2010, 08:45 PM The site is very slow, very hard to post. Took almost 5 minutes to post this.
Posted something about it on the suggestion board a few days ago and nothing......
Retro4Life 08-20-2010, 09:07 PM I thought it might be my browser, but it sounds like it's not. Everyone else using Firefox? Or does it matter?

I tried the suggestion board, but it double posted! ha ha just kidding :)
Mr. Television 08-20-2010, 09:52 PM It isn't just on the boards...the photo galleries have been down the last few days. I'm sure TJ is working on getting everything fixed. I know it has been slow. Around 7:00 I couldn't even get on SO. The pages wouldn't load for me.

I'm using Firefox too. But I think the problem is with the site itself. As Sonny said I'm sure it's being worked on as we speak.

Yes; right now the sight is humming a long. Moving from screen to screen in a few seconds!
The double (or more) posting is still a problem for some people even when things are running smoothly. A little patience may be in order. Posts are not always going to go through instantly. This is a very large site. Things can slow down a bit at peak times. Rest assured that we are working on fixing things when things get dramatically slower. I can share your frustration when things aren't working like they should be.

Thank you, TJ. You and Janice are the best!
KurtfromPitts 08-28-2010, 11:40 AM I've had that happen to me a number of times on various forums.
robyrob 08-28-2010, 11:56 AM what I do when a post looks like it is not going through is - copy all the text I have just typed, hit the browser's STOP button, then refresh the page - sometimes the post has already gone through, if it hasn't I wait a minute hit reply then paste the text back in to try again.
