NBC Renews "Last Call with Carson Daly"
Aug 19, 2010
by Natalie Abrams
NBC has renewed "Last Call with Carson Daly" for a 10th season, reps for the series confirm.
"I really feel that 'Last Call' has hit its stride. It took 10 years, but it feels brand new and great," Daly, who also hosts NBC's New Year's Eve show, told Variety.
"Last Call", the half-hour late night series, airs after "The Tonight Show" and "Late Night".

...but the fact of the matter is, he's bringing in the right demographics (and advertisers) for NBC to make a profit at that hour of the morning; he wouldn't have been renewed if he didn't. And what's more, he's retaining the audience that just finshed watching "LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON"...and keeps them around for "POKER AFTER DARK" [seen on most affiliates at 2:05am(et), except for those carrying their own local programming...or *sigh* informercials].
I admire the way Carson's series has evolved over the years. Remember when he started out, he was stuck in a studio- like every other NBC late night host- with a small band, a guest or two, and some pretty inane comedy material? After several years of that, he was determined NOT to be a "cookie-cutter" version of anyone else's late night talk show. That's when he literally took matters into his own hands, and moved out of NBC Burbank onto "the streets", for interviews and musical guests {if they have to appear in a studio, fine...but on his terms}. Daly works damn hard to present an "offbeat" show every night, and though I'm not a regular viewer, I like what he's doing.

I hate Carson Daly. Before he came to NBC Leno still had a New Year's Eve show.

I rather watch Last Call with the Digestion of Gabourey Sidibe's Mexican Takeout Dinner!
Sorry, the truth hurts...
And so does that digestion! =D
