NY Pop-Tarts Store Open For Treats
Breakfast Food Launched In 1960s

New York -- A spot dedicated to breakfast toaster treats just popped up in New York. Pop-Tarts World in Times Square is dedicated to all things sweet, sugary and tart. It joins stores already opened there by Hershey's and M&Ms. "A Pop-Tart is a childhood memory in a rectangle," said Dana Cowin, editor-in-chief of Food and Wine magazine.
The store sells many flavors besides strawberry, blueberry and cinnamon. It even sells Pop-Tart sushi. There isn't any fish in it, it's Pop-Tart pieces rolled in fruit. Pop-Tarts originally launched in 1964 as a breakfast you could toast and eat.
"There's really nothing else like it," sand Andrew Shripka, senior brand manager for Pop-Tarts. "We ask consumers all the time that if it didn't exist, what would you replace it with? And really, they have a hard time coming up with anything." Kellogg's sells 2 billion Pop-Tarts every year. The food has a Facebook page with nearly 2 million followers.
Marion Nestle, a professor of nutrition at New York University and the author of "What To Eat," said Pop-Tarts are "an iconic junk food." "It violates my rule of healthy eating, which is you never buy anything with more than five ingredients. This one has dozens of ingredients," Nestle said. But Kellogg's said it's all about balance and the food is made for fun.

I saw wildberry pop tarts at big lots, you might want to check there if there's one in your area.

I do have a Big Lots but it's doubtful that they'll have it there... I did a search here:

and I get this for my zip code:
Refine Your Search
We’re sorry. No stores were found within 30 miles of your location that carry Kellogg's® Pop-Tarts® Frosted Wild! Berry toaster pastries.
Please try one of the following options:
* Widen your search distance.
* Search for a different brand or product.

I would try anyway, I did a search also using several Kellogg's products that I know they carry and Big Lots didn't come up at all. My guess is that Kelloggs wants buyers to pay full price and since Big Lots is a discount chain, that's probably why they're not in their database. I'm going to Big Lots later today, it was a few weeks ago when I saw the wildberry but at another location.
HuntingtonM15 08-17-2010, 02:11 PM S'Mores
I just tried these last night. They were a lot better than I expected.

I think you can microwave them.
I like them but some are very sweet- a lot of sugar.
MickeyMac 08-17-2010, 06:42 PM I think you can microwave them.
I like them but some are very sweet- a lot of sugar.
They are not the same microwaved.
Retro4Life 08-17-2010, 07:29 PM Doesn't anyone else eat them cold? I love them that way. :)
Zoneboy 08-17-2010, 09:23 PM They are not the same microwaved.

I checked the local Big Lots for wildberry but no luck. Only thing they had was frosted brown sugar cinnamon, strawberry, banana split and unfrosted strawberry.
Rezny@gmail.com 08-17-2010, 09:50 PM Yes,I do.I've eaten them both cold and warm and frosted and unfrosted.I've also heard that when they were invented in 1964,one of the first flavors was Peppermint.Well, anyway,Peppermint Pop Tarts bombed. And now they have Sushi Pop Tarts?Yuck.
Rezny@gmail.com 08-17-2010, 09:59 PM On the face of it ,Pop Tarts Sushi sounds unappetizing. But since it's made with fruit(not fish thank goodness)it doesn't sound so bad.
dlemond 08-17-2010, 10:11 PM I introduced my son to Pop Tarts when he was three.
It wasn't long before he would, umm, request, out loud, "Pop Tart! Toasted!"
He's now 5 and just had one tonight.
He only like the Brown Sugar Cinammon.
KurtfromPitts 08-18-2010, 11:44 AM I've always liked the frosted kind better. My favorites are chocolate and brown sugar-cinnamon. Also, does anybody recall a dutch apple Pop-Tarts flavor in the late 60s-early 70s?
MrCleveland 08-18-2010, 01:50 PM I like Pop-Tarts, it's been awhile since I ate one.
But I don't like the Pop-Tarts commercials that they air now!
Number 9 Dream 08-18-2010, 05:05 PM Mmm, looooove Pop Tarts. My favorite are Frosted Strawberry and S'mores. (I also remember an Apple Cinnamon one. Is that still around? Those were tasty too.) I prefer to eat them cold, but the s'mores kind does taste better warmed. I'm just too lazy in the morning :p Now I want a Pop Tart! :D
Fleet 08-20-2010, 04:03 AM They are not the same microwaved.
True. Microwaving them isn't quite the same as using a toaster.
Crimson and Clover 08-20-2010, 11:46 AM sometimes

The four originals Pop-Tarts came out in 1964:
strawberry, blueberry, brown sugar cinnamon, and apple currant.
Now there are so many different flavors, I won't know where to begin.

icecream 06-06-2018, 03:17 PM I have always liked pop-tarts. The best flavor is chocolate chip cookie dough, it is really good frozen.
They're okay once in awhile. I like the Cinnamon Roll flavor best.
Babalu 06-06-2018, 05:15 PM I used to like grape when they first came out and I was maybe 10. I haven't had them in years but I can't imagine still liking them.
