(Memphis 8/13/2010) When you were young you may have heard someone say, "M-i-crooked s-crooked s-i-crooked s-crooked s-i-p-p-i" when remembering how to spell " Mississippi."
Apparently someone at the University of Alabama forgot that trick when making up the football tickets for the upcoming season.
Thousands of those tickets were printed with "Mississippi" misspelled for the November 13 game against Mississippi State. The second "p" is left off.
Doug Walker is with the university and called the misspelling an "unfortunate oversight" during the ticket making process.
Walker says school officials are trying to figure out what happened and how to prevent it in the future.
You can bet the misspelling will be prominent on shirts and signs come game day.
